  • In this episode of American Chopper, the OCC crew gets with comedy legend Bill Murray to create a bike that celebrates his most famous role.

    2.0
Never mind the fact that Carl the groundskeeper in movie Caddyshack didn't ride a motorcycle, or that the movie had absolutely nothing to do with motorcyles, when Bill Murray calls the shop to commission a chopper that his Florida Based Caddyshack restaurant can auction for charity the theme of the bike is never in question.

Of course, Bill comes out to the shop in order to get the project rolling. While he's there, we get to see him and lay down some of that horribly unfunny old Bill Murray shtick and pal around with the crew as the everyone in the shop goes into "hero worship" mode. Maybe that stuff was funny once, but today it just doesn't work. As usual, the show forges ahead...

For more inspiration, the guys go out to a golf course. While there, they get a load of priceless "golf course artifacts" (stuff that was probably taken out of the back of a truck headed to the county dump) and the project is off and running. True to form, the guys build a typical OCC bike, then weld all the golf course junk to it and have it painted up so it looks old and beat up - kind of like how "Carl" would want it.

Later they all go down to Bill Murray's club for a photo op and a mutual admiration party. Then, the bike gets auctioned to a surpise buyer for a shocking amount of money and everyone goes away happy.

After the FANtasy bike episodes, real bikes for real people, American Chopper has returned to form: Building silly theme bikes that won't really be ridden. The show just doesn't seem as fresh today as it once was. Actually, it smells a little like jumped shark if you ask me.moreless
