  • In this episode of American Chopper, Junior and Senior have a competition to decide OCC's next production bike.

This episode opens with the ground breaking ceremony for Orange County Chopper's new production facility. The company is growing and they need a huge new complex to allow them to continue producing bikes while, at the same time, allow their fans to get a look at the ongoing work. Sounds cool!

After the ceremony, Junior and Senior decide to have a competition to determine the design of a new bike that OCC can produce in large numbers and sell through their new dealer network. Both Pauls choose teams from the usual suspects in the shop and the battle begins.

Paul Junior sets to work on a production version of OCC's most famous theme bike, "The Black Widow." Teamed up with Rick, Vinny and Jason, they make good progress despite constant -but funny- harassment from their competitors. The bike is a new take on the original and it's pretty cool. I think I actually like it better than the bike it is based on.

Paul Senior chooses Mikey, Cody and one of the other old school builders from the shop. Together they work up an old school style bike that comes mostly from the shop's parts bins. Although I am personally rooting for Paul Sr, I frankly think this bike is missing a lot of the elements that have made OCC famous and, truth be told, the bike sitting on the lift at the end of this episode reminds me more of a production Harley Davidson than an OCC original.

I enjoyed this epsiode. Even though both teams are serious about winning, the competition is pretty good natured. The jokes they play on one another are pretty good fun. Overall this is a good silly episode that is at least as fun as the episodes where they fight all the time. It is one of the best shows yet.moreless
