When Roger is rejected by Steve, who seems to be over him, Roger heads out in search of a new human companion. But when this new friend starts to abuse Roger and the relationship turns into a lot of excuses and sorry's, Steve and Hayley scheme to get Roger out of the bad relationship and back home where he belongs. Meanwhile, Stan tours the Mr. Pibb factory and meets the man himself.

Overall, roger kept getting beat up which lowered my score.

Roger is rejected by Steve and starts spending time with a new kid, one who beats him up when things don't go his way. When Steve finds out the other boy attacks Roger, he tries to do something, but the boy swears he will go to the FBI and tell them about Roger being an alien if he does anything.

Good episode. I really liked the main plot in this. I thought the sub plot with Mr. Pibb was alright. It started off funny but got a little boring near the end. But Roger's plot, whilst not really hilarious, was better in terms of plot, so overall it was a good episode, one that gets a B+ as a grade from me.
  • ROger finds a replacement Steve.

    "Good"
Roger befriending a new kid in an ET spoof, mixed with an abusive relationship, isn't the most normal plot one would think of, but it was pretty funny, though it did seem to go on for too long and became predictable.

Keeping with the weird factor, Stan and Francine travel the country to keep their favourite soft drink alive, and through that crazy journey find out what they were really fighting for, their love.

Both these plots make fun of clichés, but of course this becomes a cliché itself, and the episode is fairly funny throughout the episode, but not a very memorable one.
  • Like Mr. Pibb, this episode goes down good!

Two things are happening on "American Dad!" and boy that episode goes down good. Satan and Francie go the Mr. Pibb factory and meet with the president of Mr. Pibb. speaking of Mr. Pibb, the nearby movie theatre where I live is selling Mr. Pibb. Next time I get a Mr. Pibb there, I'll think of Stan. How about a series of ads on Mr. Pibb and let American Dad pitch the product for televison. The Flintstones push Welch's products on their show. How about it? Meanwhile Roger made friends with a new companion who smacks him around and then apologized for what he did. Just like one of those Lifetime TV movies.
  • Poor Roger...

Roger is the main character in this story. When Steve ignores Roger for one of the first times Roger decides to run away finding a about 8 year old boy. At first, Roger and the boy are happy and play all kinds of games together, but then the boy starts forcing Roger to do stuff because he thinks he owns Roger. Roger tries to escape the child by going back to Steve, but everytime, he feels sorry for the kid, remembers the bad times with Steve, and ends up going back and getting beaten up. This story ends with a sort of E.T ending when Roger pretends he is going home with his mother ship when he is escaping we Steve, this time escaping the grasp of the crazy little boy.
  • Twisted plot with some great one-liners and product placement. I think Roger deserves an Emmy for his portrayal of an abused friend.

This was by no means the greatest American Dad of all time, but I did crack up at some of the great lines in this episode. My personal favorites were (not quoting exactly)

"[Mr. Pibb] is the kind of soda I could have a beer with" &

"Do you know ome-lette? ome-lette? how old are you? what do you know?" &

"Ooooo, what is she a Huffy? Baby you treat me so fine."

And you can appreciate the great Mr. Pibb product placement that continues from last week's episode where Stan offered his employees all the Mr. Pibb they can drink (maximum 2). I suppose with more and more people recording shows and skipping commercials, this might be the new business model for television. I do not know if American Dad is paid for any of this, but I am curious to see if the product placement continues. And props to American Dad for the inclusion of the "Cold Beverage" song.
  • An amusing story

American Dad doesn't always have the best stories, but there were plenty of laughs to be found in this strange episode. Things that worked, Roger's abusive friend. I thought it was really funny to make the "Elliot" kid like an abusive spouse, although some would say that's twisted, I would agree with them. Also finding that Stan and his wife "did it" on the couch at the Mr. Pibb factory was one of the most awkwardly funny things I've ever seen on the show. I will admit that the episode loses points for being a little uninspired, but then again, when shows run for a while it's bound to happen. Mostly, the episode amused me to no end and that is why I watch the show. Not as funny as other shows, but it makes for a fun Sunday!
