  • Superb start for the second season

When Stan tries to trick Steve into attending summer camp, things go horribly wrong and Steve ends up in a refugee camp. However, Stan, being the eternal optimist, joins Steve and manages to stage a camp Olympics between the refugees and the rebel faction living across the river. I thought this was a superb episode of AD. There was a sub plot featuring Roger and Francine dressed up as different person while Stan, Steve, and Hayley are away (the summary forgot to include it). To be honest, the main plot was better even though there were a few boring moments. Roger/Francine's plot wasn't as interesting and funny as the main plot but it was still good to see. I laughed at the beginning when Steve got chased by the SUV (which was Stan), the running of Roger being a scientist (but he not really), Hayley eating a lot of meat, the race sequence when a lion appeared and got eaten, Stan talking about his crush, and the last part. Overall, this episode should been a bit funnier, but it is a superb start for the second start. 9/10

  • Could someone please tell me the name of the song that plays when the black chick kills the snake that's about to attack Steve. It's heard twice. When the black chick kills the snake that's about to eat Steve and hands it to him. Thanks.

What I liked: Stan repeatedly calling the camp, Camp Re-foo-gee, the Camp Olympics, "I'm a crazy girl", Roger and Francine fighting (though the 'baby drowning' line was a little over the top and not really funny), amongst other things.

This was pretty good. Stan and Steve in a refugee camp is an interesting plot and I felt it was handled in a good way. Francine and Roger's plot was just for fun and I thought, with the exception of the 'baby drowning in the pool' line, it was pretty funny throughout. So my final grade for this episode is going to be a B+.
  • I also would love too know the name of the song playing (with the saxophone and piano) after Francine and roger fight... if anyone finds the name of the instrumental please tell me and poteks0987 thanks =)

it was a Good episode as usual =) with lots of light humor. I prefer American dad compared to Family Guy as the characters in american have more of a sarcastic humor namely Roger who actually Cracks me up all the time although Stewie is hilarious in Family guy =P.

I also would be very Grateful if anyone could help me. I am also looking for and would love too know the name of the song playing (with the saxophone and piano) after Francine and roger fight... if anyone finds the name of the instrumental please tell me and poteks0987 thanks =)
  • Can anyone tell me the title of the instrumental playing after Roger and Francine's fight? It was the one with the piano and saxophone.. Thanks!

Really good episode. Hilarious especially the part where Hall & Oates' "One on One" was playing. Their taste in music is really good. I like the jazz influence. I'm trying to find the title for the instrumental that was playing on the part where Roger and Francine were all bloody after the fight though. I can't seem to find it anywhere, and I'm DYING to know the title. It's a really good piece. Thanks a million to anyone who can help.
  • this is the moment i fell in love with American Dad

I never liked American Dad season 1 was abit of a drag and all round i never cared, most of season 2 there was no moment where i was on the floor. But Refgooge is the best episode i have seen so far. I love how oblivious Stan is to everything and constantly on Steve's back about his hole camp experience. and even at the end of all of it Steve has the camp experience his dad had. The only thing i would say is that roger is not in this episode enough, he is my favorite character. Overall this episode, is the one i would get my friends to watch first if i wanted to get them into American Dad.
  • What a great way to start of the second series

Stan wants steve to go to a camp and share the same camp experience that stan had when he was younger, but steve mdoesn't want to go (and with the help of francine he escapes from stan in a way like off terminator 1 or 2) then stan sends steve to a refugee camp. lol. steve wants to go home, but falls in love and stan trys to change the refugee camp into camp refooge. The villians then take steves camp love. they then have a camp-o-lympics where camp refooge wins, but steves camp love goes into the arms of the villian. also, roger and francine try roleplaying.

Great season permier let's hope that the rest of the season is as good as this. Great episdoe with great humor. What other element of comedy could possibly be missing from this episode... One of the best parts was when Stan kept saying Refooge when the camp was a Refugee camp. In the end great season premier..
  • Refugee Summer Camp

    8.3
    "Great"
This episode has both an awesome plot between Stan and Steve and quite a poor plot between Roger and Francine. The refugee camp is hilarious, with Stan treating it as an actual school camp and ignoring all the clear moronic situations he brings up, with Steve also learning a valuable lesson about love.

Roger and Francine pretending to be a couple and getting into a bitter fight about the lies that they screw up isn’t nearly as entertaining, with stupid moments like the beatings and the plot seemed to have repetitive jokes aswell. However, it does have its moments, but just pales in comparison to the main plot.

Overall, this episode is pretty good and while it isn’t incredibly memorable, Camp Refoogee is certainly a funny episode.
  • American Dad is back for revenge. Hitler melons, political scientists, and more in the season premiere.

It's about time American Dad came back, and it kicks off with a good premiere episode that has no particular point, but has some dang good funny skits and lines. The Terminator 2 scene at the beginning was good, I laughed there. Claus with the whole Hitler melon thing and how it was randomly brought into the episode again 5 minutes later sparkled. The whole economics v.s. political science thing with Roger rocked the floor; Roger needs his own spin-off. Stan was insidiously crazy as usual. A perfect episode.
  • This episode gave me everything I would want out of Seth McFarlane, plain hilarious nonsense.

The best part about watching American Dad or Family Guy is how they take the stereotypical sitcom formula, turn it on its ear and then beat it to death.

Most sitcoms would take a son not having fun at camp and make an episode were the father comes, embarasses the son, then does something that makes the son into a hero. In this episode, not only did nothing even close to that happen, but like all of Seth's shows, things came whizzing out of left field and smacked the audience in the temple. The best part of course is when Stan talks about his first love Amy, I laughed so hard I got a cramp.

Shows like these are the best way bring certain aspects of the world to the surface. Instead of being pissed off and making everybody feel guilty, it'll make everyone laugh. And the important thing is that the message still gets across. This show for instance was not mocking refugees, it simply brought it to the surface.
  • Simply the best freakin' episode of American Dad ever!!

    "Perfect"
This is exactly why American Dad should not be called a Family Guy clone. The writers reached the apex of the show with this awesome writing. Stan goes to an African refugee camp and makes some fun with it with Steve. At home, Roger and Francine are pretending to be characters and it ends with a clash, which is one of the highlights of this many highlighted episode. My favourite part has got to be when they were having a dance and Stan says "This next song is from Skittles" and they pound their fist on their chest and do the finger thing. Best episode of American Dad ever, and I hope they keep pumping out episodes like this. Simply freakin' awesome!
  • American Dad is finding its own unique voice - this is not simply a Family Guy clone anymore

    9.5
    "Superb"
I'm finding myself liking American Dad more and more, and this episode was a great example of how absurd and hilarious this show is becoming. Several laugh out loud moments - especially the talent show. Stan and Steve's insane dance while the music screams "I like Big Butts" had me rolling on the floor. As a joke on paper you wouldn't think this would work, but the animators did an excellent job. Same with the follow up joke with the other camp's leader cutting off his ventriloquist dummy's arms. The B story with Roger and Francine avoided the trap many b stories fall into of being a pointless bit of filler, by providing some excellent voice acting moments and giving Roger's character something to do that really added to the show. Now if only the writers could find a way to do something similar with the fish character they'll have a great ensemble to work with.

Overall I feel this show is maturing into something quite unique, and hopefully it can continue finding its own voice so its detractors can quit accusing it of being simply a Family Guy clone.
  • Stan and Steve turn a Refugee camp into a summer camp.

    8.5
    "Great"
This was another great episode from this series. Stan wanting to make Steve more of a man and mold him into a young version of himself, sends Steve off to camp. But it turns out to be a refugee camp that Stan thought was pronounced Refoogee. The camp part of the episode was very well done and was actually funny. The part with Roger and Francine dragged on a little too long and quickly became boring. But overall this episode was really well done. Few nice references like Meatballs, a few good sight gags like the rebel leader having the ventriloquist dummy cut off it's arm for failing. Overall a good episode.
  • Arguably The Series Best Episode!

American Dad had a concept that bugged me becuase it felt like a clone of Family Guy. After a couple of funny classic episodes (Francine's Flashback, Bullocks To Stan) the show won me over but if it could win me over again it did last night. Last night was hilarious, it had one of the best plots but most importantly the side plot with Francine and Roger! All other episodes of American Dad! are a 10 but this my freinds is an 11!
  • I think the American Dad writers have hit their stride.

    7.9
    "Good"
Wereas Family Guy seems to be losing some of it's steam, the writers of American Dad seem to have found an unlimited amount of resources to create stories with. The episode is very tightly written, with some fantastic social commentary, Including some of the temptations that Left-Wing Ambassadors go through (as encompassed by Hayley as usual), and using those Camp-Movie cliches and working them in a highly inapproprate setting (a refugee camp). But the real shining diamond in this episode was the B-story, showing Roger and Francine pretending to be a bickering high-class couple. It's fantastic how both the animators and the voice actors (Macfarlane and Schaal) capture these brand new characters in old characters bodies, and create a suitably surreal story. One gripe I would have with this episode is that Stan is starting to get a little stupid, along the lines of Peter Griffin and Homer Simpson. Stan should be Naive, not idiotic. Overall, this season could be a goodun for us.
  • Could there be a better episode? Probably not.

A lot of what I here about American Dad is that it's sub par in comparison to Family Guy. The fact is, I don't find them that comparable, it's like trying to compare apples to oranges, they are totally different. This episode of American Dad was the pinnacle of their writing, the exact reason why I watch this show.

Of all the American Dad episodes I've seen, this one is probably the best one. I found this episode of American Dad to be even more enjoyable than the season premiere of Family Guy. This episode was hilarious and entertaining. The whole idea of being in a refugee camp in Africa creates a good plot line. (Also not that much whining from Haley!) If all the American Dad episodes prove to be like this (hopefully a lot better than some of the recent episodes), I will always watch this show and hope that it continues for seasons to come.
  • Stan decides to put Steven in a summar camp, however, a stupid blunder by him puts him a refuge camp instead.

Well, the second season premiere started today. This episode was ok, but didn't really grab me that well. I guess with shows like "American Dad", and "Family Guy" sometimes the political incorrect jokes get old. This time

around they reused the political incorrectness of joking about refuge camps.

However, a couple of nice bits, the Terminator 2 spoof at the beginning was funny. Roger and Francine acting like their high class socialites for fun was funny. I thought Roger kinda looked like Woody Allen.

Anyhow, a rival camp of sorts steals Steve's "summer love", and Steve decides to form a Summer Olympics. Ho-hum jokes in between, the rest is predictable. An ok episode but I've seen better.
