When Steve is selected to sing the national anthem at the Langley Falls Veterans' Day celebration, he gets some heat from Stan who doesn't think he's ready for such an undertaking. Unimpressed with Steve's vocal talents, Stan decides Steve needs to experience real war in order to sing about our country's military prowess. But things quickly go south when Roger gets involved and Steve goes bananas.
Overall, an okay episode that gets a 6 out of 10

this episode of american dad was an interesting season premire for their 5th season. here is a summary steve is chosen to sing the national anthem stan heres him sing it and thinks hes not ready yet to sing the national anthem so stan and steve go to a war reinactment meanwhile roger wants to watch something on demand but he doesnt know the code. i thoght this was a great episode of american dad it had a great plot and funny jokes. one of my favorite parts was when roger dressed up as a jap and beat up stan so he could get the code.
  • 5th season of American dad. I was looking forward to this, however I was a little let down.

The whole episode didn't have much of a direction to it. Compared to other movie spoof's that they have done this was a complete stinker. Tearjerker show's that they can elevate above and beyond. This starts off okay with stand getting home from work and waiting inside is Roger, Hailey, and Steve. This quickly boils down to Steve and Stand. About this point the episode gets really pointless until Steve goes and starts dominating on the battlefield does it become interesting. This episode is a another father son moment that is so not Stan and Steve. Also the back story was weak with Roger.

This episode was the worst American dad episode of all time!

I'm a big advocate of free speech and like this show more then family guy (which many disagree) but this episode was just plain stupid and highly offensive. I'm not a war vet but anybody who is a vet couldn't possibly have though this episode was funny or honorable. It had lame and poor lines. Roger was ok with the part of the bird but highly predictable. Francine unfortunately played almost no role. The part where roger feel unconscious was just illogical and rather pointless. Also how did the daughter know the code? Also the viewer is made looking stupid for paying attention to details when the code the daughter enters is only 4 characters but roger types in a 6 character code. Overall a big disappointment. I'll be waiting for next week with more temptation. Family guy 1 American Dad 0!
  • Season Premiere.

The season premiere of American Dad started off strong, but then things took an unfortunate turn. The opening scene with Stan Smith dismissing Roger, Hayley and Steve was tremendous and Seth MacFarlane comedy at its finest, but the whole war reenactment went on for far too long, and the parody of a bad war movie did not help matters at all.

This is the problem with American Dad. Sometimes the show can be incredibly funny, but they have a habit of using these really bad storylines that just leave the viewer scratching their head asking why.

On, and then there was that insane thing with Roger reaching some kind of claymation nirvana....yeah.
  • Barbara jokes = WIN. :P

A kind of okay-ish episode... not sure where I stand with it, exactly. The beginning was fantastic, and I was cracking up the entire time. But then towards the second act, things got somewhat dull. Then it became one of American Dad! 's weaker episodes, and probably their worst season premeire. But, I really did love Roger's plot. It was hilarious the whole time, especially the end when he had that little fantasy while the show was on. I was laughing so hard that I was crying. It was just awesome.... BUT, that's coming from a total Barbara hater. Either way, not their best episode, maybe in my bottom 5. But, I'm sure Season Five will improve if we give it some time.
