  • This was entertaining at first, but then it got boring. Bad opening for Season 2.

    7.8
    "Good"
This episode was the first episode made for Season 2. And let me tell you; it wasn't very good. I mean, this episode is more centered around Trixie and the female characters of American Dragon: Jake Long. There has never been an episode like this. Another fact is that we've never seen cheerleaders in ADJL, (except on "The Halloween Bash", when the ogres were ogling cheerleaders at the party, and at the ogre bowl game in "Body Guard Duty") but a good thing about this ep is that we meet a new enemy - the Gorgon Sisters, whose names are Fury, Medusa and Euryale. I never knew about about them until I watched this ep.

In conclusion: very good, but not excellent.
  • Well, not the one I would have picked for season 2's first ep, but its ok.

    "Great"
ADJL is back with a new look, new characters, new bad guys, and new surprises. In the season 2 premier we see Trixie's girlish side. The guys (Jake and Spud, and the cheerleaders) think Trixie can't act like a girl. Or be a cheerleader. She proved them wrong. We have a new character who Spud is fond of. And we have three new bad guys...er, girls. I didn't like the new animation at first, but it has grown on me, and I wish it had been this way all along. Jake is taller. Spud seems to have a deeper voice than in season 1. Trixie seems a tad more like a girl and she uses less slang. Jake's dragon form changed a lot. He is smaller. I can't say this is one of my favorites, but all in all an ep worth seeing.
  • This episode was ok but I expected something a little better for the opening of season two.

Mainly, this episode is about a evil villain names Fury who sumons her sisters and attempets to rule the world! Trixie pretends to be a cheerleader to get information from the other cheerleaders. What she doesn't know that is these girls are being possesed by the evil sisters. Eventualy she gets possesed too!

This episode was ok but not good enough for the begining of season two. To me, there wasn't that much comedy and not that much cool action. The ending credits sceen was funny though. Poor teacher... Always gets himself into a big mess... Anways this episode was ok. Rose wasn't in it but she's in the next one. I really thought Rose would come back in this episode but I guess not. Again, because of that I say it's just ok.

wow i think this was a good episode to start season 2. when i first saw it i was surprised excited because i saw the new animation and i thought it was great. the first thing i said was that i thought it was a good episode to start season 2 but adding on to that it is not the one i would have picked the episode i would have picked would be half baked because it pretty much introduced everybody bring it on only itntroduced jake and his friends. and just for the word count when faced with a difficult challinge one must bring it on
  • Trixie gets into a group of cheerleaders to stop an evil gorgon from taking over the world.

This episode was not very nice, it was not the kind of pilot I would like in the Second season of these series.

This episode was fun, though, beacuse it had nice scenes like that stealth one. I laughed when spud was dressed as a spartan - roman fighter person thing. Also, this was first episode that used the new design of the series' characters.

I was very happy when I first saw the episode; I didn't even know there was a second season. When I first saw it, I liked it, but if I had seen the other episodes first, this one would have dissapointed me.
  • A very mythical episode.

    "Great"
This episode really explored Greek mythology on the Gorgons. The Gorgons were three powerful sisters who supposedly had powers and if anyone would look at them the victim would istantly turn to stone. The Gorgons also had snake hair.

This episode was fantastic and it showed that Trixie is very loyal to her friends.

Overall, good episode which is definately worth watching!

i thought this was a pretty good episode. i liked seeing trixy act like a girl and see her looking different but i was really glad when she started acting like her self agian. i liked the villians in this one tho they were beaten way to easyly. the end was halarious!! jake trying to girl talk was just too funny! i was rolling on the floor laughing. so yea this was a good episode but nothing really important happened in it.
  • the series opener for season two, where the gang has to face some old-world gorgons to help save the world.

    "Good"
well, not my favorite episode. it was a good story, but the cheerleaders really turned me off. (i hate the snobby ones. nice cheerleaders are rare and wonderful people, mind you, but note the whole \\\'rare\\\' part of the comment)

but spud finally getting some fighting in, even if it wasn\\\'t all that successful, was something to see. i hope we get to see more of him in action throughout the season.
  • Come on, don't pay attention to the animation! Pay attention to the episode itself.

Since this was the second season premiere for American Dragon: Jake Long, it seemed like there were more people who hated the episode more than enjoyed it. At first, I thought the same thing; the new animations are crap. Of course, everyone has heard of the term, 'Don't judge a book by it's cover'. This episode also speaks for itself with this.

When most people first watch the episode, they think at first, 'These animations aren't great, so I might as well stop watching any future episodes'. That's what I thought. But this episode, if you look at it, it's a lot like season one. The humor, the storyline... a few things might have shifted, but if you think about it this way, it's the way the episode is written is what counts, right? I mean, the animations. Yeah, they have changed and others always start to say that they hate the show now.

But if you really were a true fan of the show, you would take the time to consider the fact that ADJL is still the way it is... it's only the appearances have changed. Episode-wise, you can see that 'Bring It On' wasn't supposed to be the episode that they had originally planned.

That's what Disney always does with ADJL episodes.I probably think that they chose this episode as an opening kick-off to season two because they wanted to send a message to viewers and say, 'Hey, just because the new animations are different doesn't mean the style of the show has changed'.

Like I have said in past reviews, if people took more time watching before judging episodes... then more people would enjoy the installments that this show really has. This episode, like most others, has a good squeeze of humor, moral of friendship, a hint of possible Trixie/Spud fluff, and other add-ins that you don't really expect in an episode like this. It's still American Dragon: Jake Long... and new animations or not, it will always still be the same show.
  • The episode was good, but I didn't like the new animation.

    5.7
    "Mediocre"
The episode was pretty good, but the new animation sucked. Jake's dragon form is more like a Chinese dragon, I guess it makes some sense being that he's Aisian-American, but still, his S1 design is much better. He looks a little taller, the green shades of his hair are more visible and he has pointy ears now. I like Trixie & Spud's new outfits, but everyone else's design is terrible, like, I repeat, Jake's dragon & human forms, and Grandpa's design (both human & dragon) aren't good anymore. Whew, that's enough comin' outta me. Good episode, but crappy animation.
  • A good episode, but not all too great.

I greatly enjoyed the arrival of the new season of American Dragon Jake Long, I have been for so many months. My first glance of the new season was on Mackinac Island (Michigan) while tagging along on a business trip with my dad.I flipped to a channel and saw it, and I was extremely excited, although. . .I thought the episode took place in a different world, because I didn't like the animation. Now i'm ok with it, but I think everyone agrees when they I say the original art was better. Still, the new season brings benefits. I like the theme song a lot more now. Also, I hated when Jake said, "Dragon Up!". It seemed a little wierd, even though he is a dragon. I still liked this episode, and I can't wait til' the episode where Spud makes a deal with Fury, that will be cool. Overall, i'd say 8.5, for a fine season opener.

How could they do this to me, I’ve waited so long for American dragon and they gave me a rip off. Not only is the graphic design horrible but the new theme song sucks, here are a few details that have been misplace: his hair has a totally different shape, his eyes are no longer black pacmen but fully round, and what’s up with his pants, grandpa looks like a bum on a subway with those busman eyebrows, fu dog hardly walks on two legs any more he walks on all fours like a common mutt, hay lee looks like an idiot not to mention their mother who looks TOTALLY DIFFERENT, I literally cried when I saw this episode and in later episodes I cried again when I saw brad (who looks like a 15 year old instead of a 13 year old) and when I saw rose (who looks terrible at least in the old one when she goes huntsgirl she look great but in the second season she looks terrible in both forms) and since when the oracle twins have two different hair colours but other than those minor details the shows still great.

What the Heck happened?!? Why did Disney change Amjl\\\\\\\'s artwork ?!? The series was great, the artwork fantastic! But now, this series is the Scariest!!!! First off, Jake\\\\\\\'s just Scary! And his Dragon form? What The?!? It doesn\\\\\\\'t even Look like a dragon. It just looks like someone was really lazy and used a ruler to draw him. Okay, he Somewhat looks like a Chinese Dragon, but, here\\\\\\\'s the thing: He\\\\\\\'s The American Dragon!!!! What is up with Jake\\\\\\\'s Grandpa?!?Why does he have pointy ears? Do people want him to look like Yoda? This series is gonna go down hill Really fast!!!
  • Hate the new character design? That's not a good reason to hate this episode.

"Bring it On" was the 1st episode aired on Disney Channel USA. It features the new character design of "American Dragon": it's not great, but this doesn't mean that this is a bad episode. It's very good actually.

As most of the TVGuide says, in this episode "Trixie must infiltrate a tight-knit group of cheerleaders to stop an evil Gorgon from taking over the world". The plot sounds unoriginal, but the episode is very well-made on many levels. The battle sequences were awesome, they really improved (as the show ratings). Jake and Trixie are less annoying with their "teen-slang", and Spud is smarter (he's the Ron Stoppable of "American Dragon").

The villains in this episode were good. The Three Gorgon Sister: Fury (the most important), Euralye and Medusa (the well known). They defeat Jake and Granpa turning them into statue, but Trixie & Spud save the day (for the 2nd time in the show, and this time you can see a lot of shippy moments between them...).

Overall, "Bring it On" is a great start for the 2nd Season, although according to its production number, this episode is actually the 3rd one of this new season. "Half Baked" is the real first episode.

  • Wow I finally get to see the New season, That is very exciting, Quite a fine episode as well.

    "Good"
One of the things that struck me about this episode was a change in humour, It was a little weaker then the first season, but it had it more often. All in all,id say the humour in this episode gave me a much greater experience. The action scenes were mildly good, could have been better, but once again, there was little disappointment there. The plot was quite entertaining and executed nicely, here you can really appreciate Trixies changes she is a lot better then before.

I also liked how Jakes sidekicks play a larger role in this series. That also helped with the action, its good to see more human fighting, rather then just magical creatures attacking each other. The human tou\ch was good

2 things I have to say which lost pointswere... Things seemed to move a little fast, and take away a bit of the suspense... Also Certain features of the animation.... Jakes Human form annoyed me to no end the pointy ears and the wierd look, just wasn't up to first seasons standards... Jakes Dragon form... Whilst not as bad as I thought it would be, still no comparison to the awesome looking dragon of the first season. We didn't see Lao Shis dragon form in this so I can't comment about that. I also did not like Fu Dogs new appearence. And the last bad note I have to say is the backgrounds looked terrible especially the shoots of New York city. The animation all played together and gave it an un-american Dragon feel.

All in all, a sucessful episode, and a fine series Pilot (For Americans that is)

  • Gorgons, cheerleaders and a lot of valley girl talk...

New season and a new look for the show...definitely some faults here and there but overall the show\'s taken a turn for the better...

To be honest, I did not feel this should have been the episode to showcase the new season...it focused on a secondary issue rather than the much talked about Jake/Rose relationship cliffhanger...

The episode was so so, but the action scenes were defnintely improved and the creators came through on focusing on drama and plot...the Gorgons weren\'t that exciting as villains, and that\'s what detracted from the episode as a whole...

    Holla!
  • When the Fury, one of the three Gorgon sisters, is set free Trixie must go under cover as a cheerleader to gain information on her. But she may just change in the process.

A believe this episode was a very well written episode. Although this isn't the planned season opener it was a very good episode to introduce to new style. And as for the style I think I've finally gotten used to it. Although I'm still on the fence with Jake's dragon form, I think all the other changes that I've seen so far are pretty good.

I like the story line of this episode and the fact that it's the first episode to center mostly around Trixie and show that she's more than just Jake's friend or as Spud put it: "one of the guys." As for the new theme song: I like it. I prefer the new theme to the original because I think it fits the show's theme better than the old verson.

I'd have to say my favorite part of this episode was the cheerleaders. I thought they were pretty funny (although slightly stereotypical). I also like the choices for the voice actors, Brenda Song in particular. So I liked this episode a lot and I can't wait to see the rest of the season.
  • A Very Unique Episode.

This was third episode of the second season I have seen and it was just like the other 2 ones I saw.Great!!

This has been one good season.Alot has changed but one thing has not changed, the quality of the episodes. This is a very strange episode plot though.

I will run you through the plot of this episode bt it\\\'s more complex than the other episodes. It starts out that one of the Gorgon sisters is released and she needs to track down her 2 other sisters so she can take over the world with them. But when she is doing this she hipnotisis 3 cheerleaders to use as mineons. She can call the cheerleaders any time.Sothen Trixie must be friends with the cheerleaders so Jake and Co. can follow them to the Gorgon sisters. But Trixie gets to attached to the cheerleaders. I won\\\'t give it all away.

It is an ep that you do not want to miss.

Why Disney, why? What is up with the animation this season? It total sucks! Jakes new dragon body doesn't flow like that old one and it looks as if it was mashed together with paper machey. His feet and wings and whole body in general is puny. And what is with the Dragon up? It's blue fire. Ok, whatever with that, but he didn't say Dragon up at all. That's the only reason i watch it(mostly). I love that whole sequence. Unless Disney changes back the animation, this show is going down hill fast! And i don't wanna see it cancelled.

Jake looks so wierd. He has elf ears and not good ones either, not to mention he barely had a line. He didn't have a Jake attitude this episode. And his hair! Don't get me started alright. They just need to change the animation.

I have long been a fan of Jake and his crew...but after seeing this, Im almost speechless. While I like the new look for Spud and Trixie, this artist is way off the mark when it comes to Jake and Grandpa. Making the changes even worse is the animation style feels completely disjointed. Additionally, Trixie needs to seriously loose the giggle. On a final note, for all the people who are complaining that the episode wasnt mythologically correct, get a life. Ever since Hollywood first started making films they wrote what they thought would make an interesting story. Its called artistic license. Despite defending their right to make to rewrite mythology, I cant defend the episode. In almost every level it lacked the spark that made the first season great. The dialogue between Jake and the Gang seemed forced and not natural. And the dialogue for the rest of the cast really needs work. Unless Disney makes some serious changes...and I mean make them quick...I fear that what would otherwise be a good series is doomed to fast track itself to cancelation. Come on Disney...bring back the magic!

I have always enjoyed American Dragon, The art is mainly what pulled me in in the first place. The ability to make you visualize a magical world. But the new season decided that the old art just wasn't good enough. Instead they took it down, the shapes hold no continuation, like a baby was given the cells and allowed to crumple and streach them however the baby desaired, and then put it on air. The nice roundness of the old art, and ability to express the scenery, as well as the characters, in such a way to tell the story was one of the things going for this Cartoon. However now the Scenery is larger, more open, and some of it has even flat out changed. Sure you now can see more of the world around the Characters, but to sacrifice the art of the characters for scenery is not exactly a plus.

Give us Jake back! not this deformed paper flat poser.
  • A fine start for the new season.

    9.0
    "Superb"
As much stigma as there's been surrounding the new season--new animation, to be specific--"Bring It On" was a fine example of the new design in action.

The new character designs help portray a more developed look to the characters, which is also portrayed in their personality, with fine-tuning that really helps in viewing their antics. Jake's hip-hop baditude has been toned down, thankfully, and Trixie and Spud start to show more prominent status as actual sidekicks, rather than just some comedic relief to relate to the hero.

The new animation actually works in favor for the new show, giving it a more cinematic feel in the new action sequences. Fight scenes portray much more action and detail, outclassing the rather boring and slower moving scenes from Season 1. Backgrounds still sport nice details, and animation is still as smooth as ever.

The story did help to sport some comedic moments, though it wasn't of great quality. It was rather unbalanced throughout the episode, with the funniest part honestly beeing the gag sequence during the ending credits, which entails a voicemail message from Rotwood.

Though unstable in the comedy, this episode certainly helped to show that the animation is in no way a horrible curse for the show. If anything, it really entices me to want to see more, which I will. Season 2 is shaping up to be a pretty exciting ride.

i liked the plot but i did not enjoy the new animation, at least Jake. I liked the old animation better, but I think the new look for Trixie and Rose looks a little better. I am excited for the new episodes. There is one where it seems that Jake's dad finds out he is the American Dragon or something, the episodes in the future sound interesting.

The idea about the sisters in this episode was cool, it was in real greek mythology right? Well, I am really excited for the more episodes to come...

Good way to kick off the season. The new animation caught me by suprise a little bit but i was impressed on how much more action there was. The characters new animation hasn't changed much and Jake now looks like a teenager instead of a kid, however the dragon form is a little more weird. Was better when he was bigger but all in all a good episode to start the new season off with.
  • this episode was very nice.i was suprised that trixy did the whole cheerleader thing because she does not have that girly girl reputation she is more into videogames and more like a tomboy.i love this series and i hope they keep making more episodes.

  • Absolutely dreadful. New animation stinks, not very funny, and so innacurate to mythology that I had trouble keeping dinner down.

    3.1
    "Bad"
Where to begin? The new animation isn\'t all that bad, although Jake\'s new look is horrid. I just dont like the new face, and the dragon form looks much worse than the original. While Spud\'s obsession with Tracy was somewhat humorous, the episode was overall, very low in quality. And now on to the Mythologcal innacuracies. To begin with, the Gorgons were Medusa, Eurale(not sure about the spelling), and Stheno. NOT FURY! The Furies were a trio with serpent hair yes, but they were the winged avengers from Hades, who took particular revenge on those who wronged their family members. Secondly, the Gorgons did not rule over all the magical creatures, and they didn\'t need each other to turn people to stone. And, in the myth, Medusa is the only mortal Gorgon, because she was originally a morla woman who was turned into a Gorgon by Athena after she caught Medusa and Posiedon in her temple. And they did not shoot beas from their eyes. The mirrored sheild comes into play because Perseus can look at her reflection and not turn to stone, so he needs it to behead Medusa. As a Classical Mythology efficionado, I could barely keep myself from puking at the horrendous innacuracies in this episode. I can only pray that the morans whao write the scripts for this show pay more attention to myth next time.

I am so digging the new art style. Initially, I was afraid I wasn't going to like it, but it wound up growing on me. Love Jake's new, slender dragon form, the old, uber muscular version just didn't fly with me. Plus the unicorns in the Op, I just love how the no longer look cartoony, but more traditional. On to the episode, we finally get to look into Trixie's tomboy status. The way Jake and Spud, and even Lao Shi and Fu, don't see her as a "girl", but as just another member of the team is inspiring. One thing I'd like to address is Jake's pants, is it just me or do they make him seem shorter? All in all a decent, solid episode.
  • That was great I Love the new Animation its great I mean the new theme song that was song was great. They made the show look more chinese and they added a great combat scence and its the orriginal art it is so great it awsome!

The change in animation style is fright show. I\'ve seen cheap animation (Slimer and the Real Ghost Busters) but this really reeks. The same voices, weak script, and painful animation. Why did Disney do this? I guess they needed to make all their shows look the same (Emperor\'s New School). What a loss. American Dragon: Jake Long was showing a lot of promise, good character development, a clean and thoughtful animation style, and good scripts. The revamp drops the series down to nothing. The changes were so major and not for the better. Most of the charaters are not much more than stick figures, and the new design of Jake\'s dragon form looks like someone use a ruler to draw it, all straight lines and no style. I guess that sums up the changes, no style.

  • Speculation.
