American Dragon: Jake Long

An older sibling, Jake in this case, has been doing something for a while and it's his thing. The younger sibling, Haley, bumps her way into his thing and steals every spotlight and all attention from the one who's worked harder and longer. I really hate things happening like this. It annoys me beyond belief. That a younger sibling that is perfect at EVERYTHING would bump her way into her brother's spotlight and "thing" gets on my ever-lasting nerve. I don't like the fact that Haley is made out to be a know-it-all, perfect, angel is annoying in the first place, but to see her have everything come so easy to her (especially something like dragon powers/training) is painful to my eyes. It's not right that someone younger should be so perfect. Haley has always been an annoying character to me. She shouldn't be made out to be so perfect. She sort of reminds me of a Mary Sue.



One thing I did like about it was seeing Haley struggle with her powers; even if it was because of the stuff Jake gave her. For her to finally realize that not everything should come so easy made my day...

wow first of all i saw this episode a while ago and i am just writing about it now. wow first of all this is my favorite episode i think it shows a good connection between jake and haley. i also think this episode really told a lot about haley. and for the people wondering i like haleys dragon form in this one better then the one in the first season. this one makes haley is cuter.oh and just saying i love the line " i know how your supposed to learn from your mistakes but since i don't make any i try to learn from jakes" I love this episode

I hate hate hate when prefet younger sibling come in and grab the spot light away from the ones who works so hard! I hate I hate I hate as far as I'm conern Haley got what she desvered! Jake like Zuko who voiced by the same guy struggles and fights! That the only true way to achive anything!

great episode!!!!!!!! i really wasent expectiing it to be that great but it really was! i felt really bad for jake tho his sister coming in and saving the day and then having easy traning and taking his cover and then haily being a real brat about it grr i just wanted to shake her, so i was glad when he put that stuff in her drink altho then i felt bad for her...not that bad tho. i also liked the flash back seances they were so cute! i'm glad tho that haily was not as good as she was pretending to be.

According to the production code, "Family Business" is 5th episode of the 2nd Season.



In this episode, Jake discovers Haley has begun Dragon Training. Her Dragon Master is Sun Park, Jake's Home Ec. teacher. When Jake discovers that Haley is somewhat a "better dragon" than him, he suddendly becomes jealous (imo, he was jealous), and decides to humiliate Haley; but when a group of Hogoblin kidnaps her little sister, it's up to him to rescue her.



The episode itself was OK, but sometimes it was too...I don't know...the comedy seems forced. Other than that, the episode was good (as I said before).

Jake and Haley have always had an interesting level of sibling rivalry. Jake may be older, but Haley always proved to be better at everything than Jake. But when Jake started dragon training, he thought he finally had something Haley could not compete against him. Unfortunately, Haley's dragon powers matured faster than Jake's did which allowed her to start training at an earlier age.



Jake ends up pulling an interesting prank on Haley, but I seem to be one of the few that says Haley got what she deserved and Jake was punished too much. Jake was suppose to be in an article, until Haley up staged him in the event of the article. Haley then tried to convince the magazine writers to still have Jake in it, but the article could have ruined Jake's credibility.



Haley directly insults and disrespects Jake not only in front of him but also in front of the writer for their article. Jake gets pushed over the edge and decides to pull a prank on Haley at her photo-shoot. The prank goes well, until vengeful hobgoblins decide to ambush the photo-shoot. Haley ends up getting kidnapped by the hobgoblins that she mercilessly beat up earlier in the episode.



The part here that I find controversial is "Was it really Jake's fault for Haley's kidnapping?" My analysis of the situation says that it is more Haley's fault she was kidnapped. Her undisciplined nature and great disrespect was paid back through Jake's prank and the hobgoblins' vengeful ambush.



In conclusion, this episode was more of a lesson to Haley over her lack of discipline and respect that was created by her being better than Jake at almost everything. Unfortunately, Jake was forced to take blame for a harmless prank just because an unforeseen event occurred at the same time. It is much like tying someone’s shoes together just before an accidental and unpredictable fire occurs in the building.

"Family Business" was a great episode of "American Dragon: Jake Long". It showed how close the Long family was and it showed the dragon forms of Haley and Sun Park. "Family Business" showed the always present sibling rivalry. I am the youngest of three, so I know how it works. Jake couldn't stand having his little sister be better than him at being a dragon. That was his thing. So, he messed with her dragon powers for the photo shoot, but he didn't know there was going to be trouble and he ended putting Haley in jeopardy. In the end, Haley was safe and she revealed that the potion wore off after a couple of minutes and that she didn't fully develop her dragon powers yet. I thought that this was character development because Haley was beginning to develop her dragon powers an started training. Overall, I liked this episode and I can't wait for the next one.

I really liked this episode it was both Revealing and Surpising.it was funny to and i really likeed the episode and hope jakes sister will be back in the futher episodes to show off her dragon moves!anyway my review for this show\'s episode is that i really liked it that jakes sister started dragon training and then saves jake from the goblins then find out his teacher is a dragon to!now that is cool right there!This episode also had the grim reaper who had some funny jobs back then!well theres my review for this episode and i was glad to write it

Man this show just better and better with more hits mor drama and more issues but all extremely and totally and kind of mess up hell of time is gonna break loose on hero of the hourglass jakes father doesnt know about jakes responibilty wow this should be a good esipode and oh my god he join the huntsclan oh lordy lordy next thing you know he join a gang to shoot all the dragons in the world this show is hilarious get hyper of drama and adventures and straight up new villains in the hood and this show is getting better and better and straight up gangsta better cant wait for the next esipode cuz all hell is gonna break loose

I just saw this episode it was pretty good, it revealed alot about Haley and her dragon form and the rivalry between her and Jake. Although it was an important and pivatol episode it could have had more action, it really did\'nt have much compared to the other episodes of season 2. It was\'nt as funny as the other episodes either.



It\'s about when Jake is fighting goblins but then Haley comes and helps Jake. Haley is getting trained about dragon fighting by the Korean dragon Sun Park (Jakes Home-Ec teacher). Rivalry breaks out between Jake and Haley. But of course Jake takes it to far.



It\'s an OK episode, not the best but not the worst.
