It picks up right where we left off, after "The Hunted". Jake is depressed because Rose is gone. He has a dream about her and thinks it was more than just a dream. He then learns how he could find Rose. Him and Fu Dog try to get the final ingridient for a spell that can pinpoint Rose's location. But when things go horribly wrong, Jake is forced to choose between love and his duty as the American Dragon. Jake showed me a lot of maturity once again. And the writers did a great job too. They made sure we didn't know Rose's exact location until the episode when Jake actually found her. They were careful not to reveal who's side Rose is really on: Jake's, or the Huntsclan's. I at first did not like this episode at all. But now I have learned to appreciate it because of the great job that the producers did on it. And, to top it all off, someone knows that Jake is a dragon! Who? Watch to find out. An awesome episode that is worthy of praise.
  • Jake uses this potion to find Rose but he switches the potion with vanilla and it ends up in cupcakes.

I liked this episode alot because it is sad and a big Jake/Rose episode. It is a real tearjerker, but a job well done. It defenetly makes my list of favorites. It is the second episode of the season, so it's special. One of the beginning episodes of a great season.
  • Jake sees Rose in a dream and tried to find her with a potion.

In this episode, mainly Jake sees Rose in a dream and tried to find her with a potion. The potsion ends up in his cupcakes he has to bake for school and everyone who eats them turns in to weird monsters! It's up to Jake to save the day again...

This was a great episode with a great plot. Seeing Rose again was great. The new animation really changed alot on her. There could have been a little more comedy. Most shows that I like have a lot of commedy in them. I guess it was good enough to make a nine.

In this episode, Jake gets a dream message from Rose. Jake wants to know where Rose is so he can save her, but Rose says it is too dangerous and he cannot save her. Jake wakes up from the dream and is now obsessed over finding Rose. He asks Fu to whip up a portal spell so he can find Rose. For a portal spell to work, Jake needed Krylock venom. At school, Jake needs to bakes cupcakes to get extra credit for Home Ec so he will not fail it. They made the spell and cupcake in one place and the vanilla got into the spell and the venom got into the cupcakes. In the end, Jake had to chose whether to be with Rose or to fulfill his duty as the American Dragon. He chooses to fulfill his duty. In the end, Jake did not find Rose, but Fu insists he will find her one day. Jake says that he knows that Rose feels the same way about him as he feels for her. This is such a great way 2 start the second season!
  • Jake bakes some cupcakes so that he can earn some extra credit in his cooking class. However, things go terribly wrong when his locating potion is mixed in with the cupcakes.

This was an okay episode. It proves that Jake can put duty before his heart when he has to and that he is not completely blinded by love. Anyways, my facorite parts would still have to be Jake seeing Rose in the portal and then telling her he\'s sorry. That was so beautiful and sad at the same time. It was also funny to see Jake waking up tp find himself kissing Fu Dog i nreal life when he was kissing Rose in the dream. Hahha...that was priceless!
  • when it finally becomes too much for jake to handle, he searches for a way to contact rose to be sure that she's safe from repercussions from the Huntsclan. but when the spell goes awry, he has to make a choice: go after the girl or be the hero.

thank god, rose is back and not dead like some people thought. she apparently is still training with the huntsclan, and not made a full member yet. we see that she still has some good feelings for Jake, if her smile from seeing him is any indication, and that she is worried about his safety. we also find out that she can work magic to some degree, since she walked in his dreams.

its become really clear that those two are in a serious romeo and juliet kind of situation, and i'm really interested in seeing just how this will all resolve. will she leave the huntsclan for jake, or turn her back on him for good? i can't wait to find out!

i liked this episode, i felt so bad for jake he seemed really heart broken, and since i havent seen the whole first season yet this was the first time i relized that rose was bad, i liked seeing his different shades of sadness when he did thoese poems, he was horible. i felt bad at the very end when he had to chose between her and his duty. i was glad in the end that he dicided to keep looking for her tho. but this i think was a very good episode.

According to the Production Code, \"Half Baked\" is the real first episode of the 2nd Season.

At last, we finally see Rose in two short cameos in this wonderful \"American Dragon\" episode. I think is the best episode in the ENTIRE series so far.

Of course, the animation is bad (but not *that* bad) but the storyline is well-made, again. Steve Loter & Co. did a great job. The episode was exciting, interesting, funny and entertaining. The Krylock is a great magical enemy, I hope to see him again (but he\'s dead...I think): the final battle is awesome, one of the best in the series. The Jake/Rose relationship was very touching...

    This was a great episode.

I really feel sorry for anyone who stop watch Season 2 due to their new animation. I feel sorry for them because they're missing great episodes like this one!

Half Baked was an instant classic! Which from start to finish keep me watching intently. It was funny, entertaining and a complete dream sequence following up from where we'd last been left off.

I had been waiting for this ep for almost a year after seeing the Hunted, and I'm glad to have seen it now, and I'm glad to know that it was worth every second I spent anxioulsy waiting and lived up to every little bit of hype I'd built up inside of me other the years.

So long as the eps stay this good, you could have a drunk six year old do the animation it wouldn't bother me! It would still be worth watching in my books..

This was another great episode in the installment. I loved the part near the end when it showed Jake having to choose between Rose and being a hero. At the end, where it shows her in the hunts-school, I was just dying to see the next one.I also liked the part when Spud finally got over the clowns. Right when he says, "Make me laugh clowns, make me laugh", and then turns around, and there are bloodthirsty clowns there, that makes it real funny. Another great 10.
  • Season 2: Hate the animation, love the new direction its going though.

After seeing a couple of episodes of the new season, I am going to miss my cable when it goes out in another month. It seems like American Dragon Jake Long is getting alot more interesting. I am appalled at the new scraggly \"trendy\" redesigns of pretty much everything, but I think the writing and the direction are going to make up for that. In this episode we got to see alot of well timed humor, plot twists and opened gates to the exciting situations we hope to expect.

Spoiler: There\'s supposed to be this major new character introduced this season and I think we got a glimpse of her in this episode. It got me really excited. dont let me down, American Dragon!!!
  • One of the most memorable moments...

    "Superb"
I wanted to wait until the second airing before writing a review. What takes me in is that two very climatic moments are thrown in so close between The Hunted and Half-Baked.

Honestly,it is hard to say which one is more heart-clutching but these moments are set so fragile...a line between is wanted and what is destined for.

Their reactions are what we wait and anticipate for, when that portal appeared, most everyone wanted Jake to say more then just a few words to her.At least a hug, smile or something...but no,it was all abruptly cut off again.Which may or may not happen again...it probably won't until the very end.Anyways, seeing the way Rose lit up when she saw Jake there and the way she was looking at him when she had approached the portal...I nearly wept!lol.Jake's already been discussed in the other reviews,so I'm focusing on Rose.

Mainly the reason I think we see Rose at the end doing what she is doing is because, like Jake, she has to try and go on with her duties until something else happens. It's possible she doesn't want Jake to try and save her, because something may go wrong and the Huntsman may 'force' her to attack him.

Somehow, his hold over her is so strong that she may be afraid of exactly 'how' he'd go about making her.So although she warns Jake to stop Huntsman and deeply wants to be with him,she decides to tell him she doesn't want him to save her...unless her resentment severe or she feels powerless to stop fate...as it has continued to hurt her life.Maybe both. We'll find out in The Academy probably. All in all, this episode couldn't be better. 9/7! ^_^

  • The Jakesta longs for Rose, magic potion, Krylock and clowns...Just an action packed episode that definitely brings out the second season with a bang...

This was a great episode, and picks off from the last season with the Jakesta's concern for Rose and a need to find her...Sun Park was not quite what I expected, but for the better...can't wait to see her in action...

I liked the fighting scenes from 'Bring it On' and this episode surpassed it and then some...the Krylock was a standard beastly enemy, and Haley's path of destruction in the Long house was comical...it's good to see her get more screentime...

Also, the ending now leaves us wondering if Rose truly has changed...suspense and drama!

    Peace out, ya heard!
  • Jake has hit an all-time low since Rose left and is now completetly oppsessed with finding her.

The best episode ever!!!!! I loved this episode!! But, I thought I was gonna cry at the end when Jake chose the Krylock over Rose. But he did what he had to do. I like Sun Park, she's pretty cool and I think she'll make a very good Dragon Master for Haley.

I also liked the end when we see Rose and all the other Huntsclan apprentace levels practicing the form and then it zoomed out to show the Huntsclan banner.

In my opinon this episode would have suited better as was orginaly planned for the season opener. Reason being the fact that Jake was very upbeat in the previous episode and all the sudden he's depressed. It seemed a little out of place to me. I can't wait to see "The Academy!"
  • The "true" Season 2 premiere of American Dragon has come, and it delivers.

    9.5
    "Superb"
"Half Baked" as a whole represents many things for the new season: new animation, new characters, new plots and the like. As much anticipation as there's been, and for all the praise and insults thrown across the controversy for all the changes, it all converges to form this episode. What it creates can honestly be deemed as one of the best of the series.

Portraying his emotional state after Rose's departure in "The Hunted", Jake is desperate to find his crush after an eerily-real dream concerning her. Hope lies in a portal charm, who's key ingredient comes from a vicious demon. After obtaining a quick sample, recipes intervene (the opposite recipe being a cupcake mix for a carnival), and ultimately lead to the mutation of innocents at Jake's school carnival.

Despite the heavy comedic content of the episode (all of which is well-written), "Half Baked" manages to handle Jake's emotions in an expert fashion. It doesn't feel too mushy, but you can definetly see his own troubles that he's had to confront. Thankfully, it doesn't become too focused on Jake, instead allowing his own situation to allow other characters to show their connective developments. Even Fu Dog, a character formerly left out of any real emotional material and instead used as a vessel for quick comedy in the downtime, shows a more lovable persona.

With excellent action scenes, well-timed comedy and astounding character development, any American Dragon fan owes it to themselves to see this episode. This is a real gem of the series.
  • Jake is still moping around about Rose. Fu Dog tries to use a portal potion to help Jake find her, but the ingredients gets mixed up with his cupcakes. He sells them at school, and everyone turns into a krylock/monster.

    9.8
    "Superb"
Again, I am impressed with what Disney has done. Jake loves Rose and is missing her so much that his mind can't really concentrate on anything else (e.g., failing grades).

But we discover that Jake will try to move on from the past, and not mope around the whole time. And he did go to the Krylock instead of Rose (when he had the 2 portals), so at least he's not going to throw away everything he has for his love. (I hate love stories where they throw everything away for their love) At least he's still doing his responsibilities. And Huntsgirl is also going along with her responsibilities. At the end of this episode, we see she seems to be the leader of a large number of people (?).

A new character (teacher) shows up, and she knows about the American Dragon. I wonder who she is.

I still don't like how Jake looks as a dragon. It contradicts his title American Dragon. Now that he's longer/thinner, he looks more like an eastern dragon instead of an european one (most americans are descendents of europeans, and so I'm assuming the "American Dragon" is the european dragon). And if he looks more like an eastern dragon, how can he be the American Dragon?

However, Rose is a lot prettier this time. I can adjust to everyone else's new forms.

AWSOME EPISODE! I've never laughed so much during ADJL, espeically Jake's "Thanks Fu! You're my dog! I mean that in a hiphop way not in an I own you way" ha ha ha. Spud's clown fear was exteremily amusing as well. As was Mr. Longs attemps at child rearing Krylock Hayley! My heart kept breaking for Jake through-out the entire episode! I hope Jake rescues Rose in "The Academy". That was a great episode.. as a huge Rose fan i was pleased! I think this season may be evern better than the first one, the storyline has already grown better in my opinion. Keep 'em coming!
  • A great way to start the second season!

I just saw this episode and I expected the worst because I saw some pictures of the new animation but I was so wrong, this was the best episode of American Dragon : Jake Long I have ever seen.

Tells alot about Jake missing Rose but not in a sappy, sad way. This was the funniest episode I have seen. I'm OK with the animation.

It's a change but a very, very, very good one with funnier flashbacks, jokes and lines. You can not miss this episode. Also kudos to the directer Steve Loter for making a great show even way way better.
