American Gladiators

Seven new American Gladiators are introduced this season. They are Sky, Sabre, Elektra, Siren, Lace #2, Cyclone and Havoc along with Zap, Laser, Diamond, Turbo, Tower, Storm and Viper. Zap did not appear in this episode.

Betsy Erickson & Cliff Miller advance to the First Half Quarterfinal Rounds.

Events not competed in this Preliminary Round were the Wall, Human Cannonball, the Maze, the Joust and Swingshot.

The Eliminator has undergone another transformation. Everything is the same except for when the contenders come off the zip line, the contenders now climb over a clear wall and manuever themselves through the Gauntlet of moving padded dummies that are controlled by 2 Gladiators.

Jeannine Micheletti does not finish the Eliminator course.

Betsy Erickson has a 1 second head start over Jeannine Micheletti & Cliff Miller has a 24 second head start over Darryl Moore.

A new segment features the American Gladiators talking about various things.

Sky & Storm shut out the contenders in Super Powerball. This is the 1st time for the lady Gladiators to shut out.

Lance Sellers retires in this episode due to a concussion he receives in Super Powerball. Sabre & Tower help him to the locker roon. Darryl Moore takes his place for the rest of the episode.

Super Powerball makes its debut and it is the Crunch Time Event. It is the same as Powerball except there are only 3 cylinders instead of 5 & 2 Gladiators instead of 3 defending them. Outer cylinders are worth 3 pts and the center cylinder is worth 5 pts.

Cliff Miller defeats Tower in his round of the Assault at the 4th station with the pistol.

Betsy Erickson defeats Sky in her round of the Assault at the 2nd station with the rocket launcher.

In the Assault, notice that the stations have now been numbered 1-5 and are blue instead of grey. The target is more open and suspended above the Gladiator.

Turbo is spotlighted in the Ask A Gladiator segment.

In Atlasphere, sound effects have been added when the contender scores a goal.

Lace #2 makes her debut in Atlasphere, which is also her only appearance prior to the Eliminator. Lace #2 is 5'7" & 135 lbs.

Elektra shuts out the contenders in her round of Hang Tough.

Elektra makes her debut in Hang Tough. Elektra is 5'10" & 145 lbs.

Sky Track makes its debut appearance. Sky Track is a 7 ton upside-down race track suspended from the arena ceiling. The contenders & 1 Gladiator race from the start line to the turn around point and then return to the finish line. The track is covered entirely with Velcro as are the gloves that the contenders & Gladiators wear. If contender wins, they receive 10 pts and if they come in 2nd, they get 5 pts.

Sabre makes his debut appearance in the Conquer Ring. Sabre is 6'2" & 230 lbs.

Storm shuts out the contenders in her round of Breakthough.

Notice the rug for Breakthrough has changed to a light grey with red strips and a red/grey 2 ft field end zone from green and white striped. The Conquer Ring has changed to grey with white ring from it's yellow color. The time to get the Gladiator out of the Ring has now been bumped up to 15 seconds from 10.

Notice that the rug for Powerball has changed to a grey area for the contenders and a light grey for the Gladiators with a red border from the green area for the Gladiators and yellow area for the contenders. The balls also have changed to grooved red & blue from red & blue specked soccer balls. Outer goals are worth 2 pts & the center goal is worth 3 pts.

Sky makes her debut appearance in Powerball. Sky is 6'3" & 185 lbs.

The opening credits are the American Gladiators of last season and this season while the ending credits are scenes from the episodes.

In the First Half of Season 5, the new events are Sky Track and Super Powerball as well as Powerball, Breakthrough and Conquer, Hang Tough, the Wall, Human Cannonball, the Maze, Atlasphere, the Assault, the Joust, Swingshot and the Eliminator.
