Many people who have purchased American Gothic on DVD have become the owners of faulty disks. The series was recorded onto double-sided DVD-18s which have frequently been scratched which causes the episodes to skip and freeze. These same people who have purchased these disks have also sent them back for replacements, however, the replacements have ALSO skipped. I have sent an e-mail to Universal about this problem and they have refused to do anything about it. I urge you to return your sets to the store in which you purchased them and get your money back. This is the only way we will be able to show Universal Studios that we deserve better quality disks from such a major motion picture studio.

Ugh, I hate DVD18s so badly. For reasons like this...

I had heard about problems on these discs, but so far I haven't had any skips at all. I think there are only certain episodes that skip from what I've heard. So far so good for me.

Yes, luckily a few people have good copies, but unfortunately more people than not have faulty disks. The bad unfortunately outweighs the good.

It's not only the quality (lack thereof) of the DVDs that is making me avoid getting the set; have also seen where the episodes aren't even shown in the right order to the story. Would it have killed Universal to have someone even look at a fan site to get the order right? Considering how cheap they are with extras (the Original Battlestar Galactica set was a complete joke, among all of their releases like A-Team, Knight Rider, etc.) this effort wouldn't have cost them a cent. Too lazy to do even that.

My set has had one flaw on the disc where it always freezes on the third episode of disc 1 side A. The out of order situation is complete crap. I can't believe Universal wouldn't at least get the correct order. They did the same thing with Sliders seasons 1 and 2. They need to stop looking at the air dates.

Yeah they should be in the proper viewing order so the storyline makes sense. The mere fact that they aired out of order is strange in itself.

I also boycott Universal until they release seasons 2-3 of American Dreams.

Universal is not going to care about the five people boycotting them.
