It was way back in December 2011, but I still remember it vividly. It was hands down, the best episode of the 1st season. Jessica Lange continued to amaze me with her performances. And I had to shed a few tears away with Tate/Violet scenes and when I realized Vivian died during the child birth. Sad :( 10/10

Birth was a superb episode of American Horror Story and I enjoyed watching this episode as Ben unknowingly tests Violets boundaries, the ghosts claim rights to Vivian's babies and Vivian goes into labor. It was interesting to learn more about the babies as well as more history about past residents of the Murder House. Some of the scenes were literally a little too dark to see what was going on or see characters faces clearly, but this added to the tragic happenings of this episode. There was drama, suspense, and intrigue as well as character and plot development. There is a new permanent resident in the house, and the fate of the babies is yet to be revealed. I look forward to watching the next episode!!!!!!!moreless

Constance: Man shall not lie with man. It is an abomination.
Chad: So's that hairdo, but I figure that's your business.

    • Tate: Seriously, though, are you ready for all this? I mean, you never struck me as the diapers and midnight feedings type.
Patrick: Maybe you should have taken a few minutes to get to know me before you stuck a fireplace poker up my ass.
      Tate: Fair enough.

    • Moira: He's the most beautiful baby I've ever seen.
Constance: From blood and pain come perfection.

    • Violet: I used to think you were like me. You were attracted to the darkness, but Tate, you are the darkness.
