This is definately going to be cancelled sooner than later, it was badly acted and the pacing was atrocious!

Doubt it. It'll last for at least one good season.

All new series have a big viewer base for the pilot episode, but it always drops off afterwards, so expect ep2 to have less viewers.

And, for the people hoping it'll last a full 22 ep season, dream on....

    Tough call.

Cable Channels tend to give shows a lot more leeway, and even mediocre shows will often get the full season. On top of that, FX and some other edgier channels like to give a chance to non-conventional series.

While most TV Networks will drop things fairly quickly if the rating don't stay decent for the first X episodes.

I thought it was alright and will give it a shot, but I don't feel strongly about it one way or another.

I didn't think the acting was bad. I'm already very intrigued with how the neighbor is going to kill the housekeeper - again!

I totally agree. Cable tends to be more tolerant when it comes to new shows.

You asked 5 million other viewers if they liked what they saw?

All the people who didn't like it are part of that 5 million, in case you overlooked that obvious fact.

It won't. Stop kissing the show's ass and telling people what opinions to have.

I'm amazed that anyone thinks that quality has any link to the success of a show on US TV. In my experience it generally the other way around. The shows that then to do well seem to be the ones that have a set and repeated 45 minute formula that the writers use for every episode. Shows that try to be original generally don't get the ratings and fail.

On the subject of American Horror Story I couldn't see anything wrong with the acting and that's generally something I'm picky about. As for the longevity of the show, successful or not I can't see it running for that long simply due to the nature of the story. If they're living there too long without moving out, getting killing or going insane then the characters cease to be believable.

Thank you, thighmaster! Who cares if the numbers are 50/50? That's STILL 2.5 million who watched and liked it!

I totally agree with you. I am really looking forward to seeing if the second episode will be better than the first but they will have to figure out something else for the family to do. Although the season won't be very long, I think many people will lose interest if we just see these people get haunted every week.
