Jordin's wishin on a star- a good performance, chosen by simon it's a good opener, I was surprised that simon didn't like it but paula loves everything and she loved that so I'll give it a 8.9, good performance, I really liked it

Blake's Roxanne: pretty good performance, I wasn't waving my arms around but I liked that, dude. Not comparable to sting but it was pretty good. Sting would have done it much better. It was pitchy because he had the echo on, but not a vry good vocal in my opinion, but his performance, lights, and clothes were good. Melinda's performances were good but no great, probably why she got eliminated, she also should never let anyone share the stage which she did on her I am woman. Blake's this love was an absolutely amazing performance, I loved it very much and it was not as good as his she will be loved, blake's when I get you alone performance was good but not great if you want my opinion on his vocals, they were good but I know the original song and he couldn't have done it much better, so good, bettyer than Roxanne but I did like Roxanne. Jordin's performances were good except for her secong performance, here are the performances in order of greatness
    1. this love
    2. I'm a woman
    3. I who have nothing
    4. wishing on a star
    5. Roxanne
    6. I bielive in you and me
    7. nutbush city limits
    8. when I get you alone
    9. she works hard for the moneymoreless
  • The top 3 preform

    7.2
    "Good"
The preformances this week were alot better than they were the last few weeks. I thought Melinda's first song wasent that good. I mean, she's always good, but that song, I just dident conect with. I liked Blakes first song, it was good. Jordin, was again wonderfull. I thought that Blake was awsome in the second round, he was really awsome with his Maroon 5 song. Melinda and Jordin did good too, but not as good as Blake. I thought that their last preformances were all good. I think that Jordin's was the best out of all of them. The only thing I dident like about Melinda and Jordins last sings were, they sung them before. I mean, they were good, but I was hoping for something a little better.moreless
  • It's down to three!

    9.5
    "Superb"
This is, effectively, the semi-finals for American Idol. Three singers, three songs, and they're all good. They're all popular. What will happen?

It's going to be tough to choose who will go to the finale, because they're all good, and they all had good songs to sing. Melinda was great on all three songs, as was Blake. Jordin was good on the first two, but I didn't like the one she chose for herself; it was too 'pageant-y' as Simon once said about one of her other songs. It was too old-fashioned, and that could be the deciding factor.

Of course, I'm writing this review after the fact, and Jordin isn't eliminated. I know that, but I honestly thought that that one song might be the end for her. I don't know if she can beat Blake in the finale, but it will be a good show, and a tough choice!moreless
  • Well, what can I say?

    9.0
    "Superb"
All three are fantastic. More then good enough to be the next American Idol. It doesn't matter to me much who does win to be honest. I love them all equally. The only reason I feel kinda bad for Melinda is because, and I have said this before, she needed the win the most. Blake's gonna have huge sales from first place or second, and would have from third as well. Jordin's going to have huge sales among teenagers, and if she ever wants to do Broadway, then Broadway will welcome her with open arms. I hope Melinda gets an offer soon and aleviates my worry. Because she deserves it.moreless
  • This is the first episode I'm giving an 8.4/10 or 5 stars to.

    8.4
    "Great"
This week, our contestants get to perform three songs each. The first song they perform is a song chosen by the judges. The second song will be a song the producers chose for them. Their third and final song will be a song they chose for themselves.

    Round 1:

First to perform was youngster, Jordin Sparks. Simon chose "Wishing on a Star" by Rose Royce for Jordin. She got the news in her home town where they Mayor announced it in front of a huge crowd. Jordin did a very jazzy rendition of the song; she changed the arrangement around quite a lot. Randy and Paula both agreed that the performance was great. Simon on the other hand thought it was a good vocal, but he didn't like the arrangement of the performance. I thought her performance was great, but it wouldn't be one of her best performances. I'm giving her first performance an 8/10.

Blake's first song was chosen by Ms. Paula Abdul. She chose "Roxanne" by The Police. This is a really great song by The Police that I'm a huge fan of. I thought Paula made a bit of a mistake letting Blake perform that song because The Police are very hard to take on. Randy and Paula liked the performance, but Simon wasn't so into it. I wasn't so crazy about the performance, the original was so much better, and I don't think Blake had the chops to pull it off 100%. Blake still managed to put up a decent performance though. I wouldn't consider it good, but it wasn't that bad, so I'm giving that performance a 6/10.

Melinda ended the first round with a song that Randy chose for her. Randy chose "I Believe in You and Me" by Whitney Houston. I think that was an excellent choice by Randy. Melinda pulling off that performance could make her the absolute front runner in a very unpredictable race for the title. All three judges thought it was amazing and I'd have to agree. That performance was perfect; her vocals were off the charts! With a performance as amazing as that, I'm giving Melinda a perfect 10/10.

    Round 2:

Jordin performs again, but this time with a song the producers chose for her. Jordin sang "She Works Hard for the Money" by Donna Summer. It was a good song for her to perform and it was a definite improvement from the first performance. I think she really showed off her vocals with this song, and I think she just put herself through the finale with this performance. The judges really liked it, but me, I just thought it was superb! That being said, I'm going to give her a 9/10 for that performance.

Blake was back performing Maroon 5's "This Love." I always thought that Blake sounded like Adam from Maroon 5, so I initially thought this was a good song choice for him. I really wished that Blake wouldn't go so much on the beat-boxing. The judges loved it, and I thought it was great. It seemed like he was having a hard time with the high notes, but he managed to barely pull it off. He had just the right amount of beat-boxing, so I thought he did a great job. It was a huge improvement from his performance, so I'm going to give him a good 8/10.

Melinda got a rock-ish song for her next performance. It was "Nutbush City Limits" by Ike and Tina Turner. I thought it would be a good song choice for her since it was a Tina Turner song, but it wasn't as grand as I hoped. It was still good, but she really isn't meant to be a rocker. She surely showed great diversity, but it just doesn't match her. The judges really liked it and appreciated the diversity as well. This was a step back from her opening performance, but it was still great. I think an 8/10 is a decent score for her performance.

    Round 3:

Jordin opens with one of her favorite songs. She has performed this song before, but she decides to perform it again, the song is "I Who Have Nothing." She sang that during the week that Tony Bennett mentored the contestants. She did it great then, and she did it even better now. It was a blow away performance with a huge amount of talent and vocal range. I think that was her best performance of the night. I'm giving her a 10/10 for that amazing performance.

Blake does a Robin Thicke's "When I Get You Alone." I had a hard time imagining him doing this the way that Robin Thicke did it, but as expected he did it with a deeper voice. It would have been extremely hilarious if he did a copy-cat performance, but thank God he didn't. Anyway, so his performance was good, but I didn't find it special at all. I'm giving him a 7/10 because it was interesting to see.

Melinda closes the night with the song she sang during the week right before the top 12 week. That song would be "I'm a Woman" by Peggy Lee. I liked it a lot when she did it back then, but she did it just ten times better tonight. She had a bigger band, a bigger stage and a hugger amount of charisma, and she used that to her advantage! The performance was just spine-chilling and nerve-wrecking all throughout. I'm going to give her a 10/10.

    Final Notes:

I'm giving round 1 to Melinda, but round 2 is going to Jordin. Round 3 is a tie between Jordin and Melinda. I found Blake pretty good all night, but none of his performances were just a perfect 10/10. Melinda is the most consistent all night, but Jordin isn't far behind. Blake might be trailing a mile behind Jordin, but he should be proud because he did great.

    Predictions:

I think Blake Lewis is going home, I don't think it mattered if he had an amazing night. Jordin and Melinda were just front runners since day 1.moreless
