  • Good night.

    "Superb"
No Jason!!!!!!!!!! This might be a good night.

David Archuleta "And So It Goes" He obviously did good. Not his best though. I did really like it though. 9.5/10

Syesha Mercado "If I Aint Got You" Great song choice by Randy. She perfomred it well also. 9.7/10

David Cook "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" I loved it. I thought he did a great job with his own spin to it. Round one to Cook! 9.8/10

David Archuleta "With You" Horrible. Just completely horrible. Hated every moment of it. Also, strange dancing. 8.4/10

Syesha Mercado "Fever" It was a very sexy performance. I disagree with the judges. I thought she did good. 8.7/10

David Cook "Dare You To Move" Best choice from contestant. I agree with Paula though. I was kind of suprised when it ended. So I didn't like the arrangment. Singing was good though. 8.6/10. Syesha won round to.

David Archuleta "Longer" I thought it was the perfect song choice for him. I thought he would do great. I thought wrong. It wasn't that good. He'll be in the finals though. 8.2/10. All together, 8.7/10 Syesha Mercado "Hit Me Up" Umm... she's eliminated. She did not do good on this and I don't think America thinks shes the best out of the three. I still love her though. 8.3/10. All together, 8.9/10

David Cook "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" Wow!! Great job!!!!!! It was fantastic. We'll see him in the finals. 10/10!!!!!!!!! All together, 9.5/10

    Eliminated: David Archuletamoreless

This week, the three remaining contestants were given three songs to sing: a Judge's Choice, a Contestant's Choice, and a Producer's Choice. The songs were picked to highlight the contestants' vocals, originality, and a taste of what each of them would bring to the recording industry.

David Archuleta fires the first shot with Paula's Choice of "And So It Goes", which was originally sung by Billy Joel. The song had very few instrumentals, which was perfect for David's powerful vocals. Then he chose Chris Brown's "With You." He's a good singer and one of my favorites, but I honestly think David should stay away from these songs. Thankfully, the producers picked out a great song (one of my favorites) "Longer" originally from Dan Fogelberg. It reminded me of a Babyface take, but it still worked for David A. He'll fly through to the finals.

Syesha Mercado does an okay job with the songs she had to sing. Randy gave her "If I Ain't Got You" by Alicia Keys. Syesha sang it well, but didn't get to break out of the same mold as Alicia Keys. She also got a bit nervous, as was seen with her stiff look like a post. I love her, but she shouldn't be too nervous to a point where it affects her performance. "Fever" was just okay. Only problem was that Syesha didn't make it current to what the average music listener would expect in today's music. The song sounded more like something I would hear from a smooth jazz station or an oldies station. Lastly, I felt like the producers threw poor Syesha under the bus by giving her a recognizable song from the movie "Happy Feet" called "Hit Me Up" by Gia Farrell. None of the judges really liked the performance. Even Paula didn't like the song. Syesha made the most out of the song, but at this point, I don't think she'll make the final two.

David Cook closes out the night with his set of three songs. Simon picked out "1st Time Ever I Saw Your Face" originally from Roberta Flack. Simon's challenge to David C. was that he can take an old song and make it his own current song. It was a great song for him to sing. However, it was the best song for his set in comparison to his next two songs. "Dare You To Move", which is originally from Switchfoot, had none of David's creative deviation from the original song. For me, Switchfoot did the song better. Lastly, the producers chose "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing", which is originally from Aerosmith. Randy didn't like it, but Paula and Simon gave him props for the performance. David Cook really became a force of his own! I'm looking forward to next week.moreless

I guess I was expecting more from the top three. I really don't like Seyesha or David A and they didn't impress me at all. I'm tired of balads, and when A tried to sing a fast song, he ruined it. He's talented, but I just think he's boring and I'm not a fan of his voice. Seyesha, I thought, was ok. She didn't do bad, but she's just not I like in a singer. She would be good on broadway. Cook was good, but he's been better. However, his last song was amazing. Overall, not a good final three. Very dissapointing.moreless

  • Maybe the worst semi-final ever...

    5.0
    "Mediocre"
What a dull, boring, lackluster evening of music!

Considering all the flack the contestants get season after season for choosing songs that are "too old for them" the judges and producers picked a bunch of songs written before the contestants were even born... How are they supposed to connect to songs like that?

Except for David Cook's final performance I thought they were all awful!

This entire season has been full of a bunch of odd themes anyway... there has been a noticeable absence of music from the current decade... So what, David A. can sing songs from the 70's and 80'... He choked his attempt at a current song tonight...

David Cook seems the only logical choice at this point... David A. is just a little too boring and Disney for me... Besides I am tired of watching him squint through all his songs.moreless
