It wasn't for Ford but the contestants did film a music video. The song was "Splish Splash" by Bobby Darin. All the contestants were in towels and getting ready for a dance. At the end they are all dressed up and having fun then Jon Peter Lewis walks out still in his towel.
Quentin Tarantino was the guest judge in this episode. He is the first person to guest judge who is neither a singer or a writer. But because he is a huge fan of the show and is a director they got him to do it since it was movie week.
Tarantino reportedly said "Power Effin' House" but was ordered by Fox to redo his comments, not airing it live made it possible.
Neil Sedaka was in the audience. He was a guest judge in season 2.

After Fantasia's performance of "Summertime," Randy gave her a standing ovation and also said it was the best performance of all time on American Idol.
This episode was originally set to air Tuesday April 13th 2003 but aired with a tape delay the next day on Wednesday April 14th 2004. This is because on Tuesday there was a presidential address. This is the first time that the show has been pushed back for some reason and also the first time a (strictly) performance episode aired on a Wednesday. The only other episode in which people performed on a Wednesday was the Wild Card episode in season 1, which also was a results show all in one!
