After Tamesha Foote got eliminated she complained and said " the first girl who forgot her words, and I sang better than her..." That "first girl" was Carrie Underwood the eventual winner. It would be interesting to see what Tamesha thought of her during the live shows.
Contestant Shunta Worthen got on the wrong bus and had to find a way back to the auditions. She made it and got to the next round too.
Difference from season 3: The contestants were divided into two big groups, each performing on different days. Each small group was divided into even smaller groups of 10, and similar to the first two seasons they sang a song then after the group was done they eliminated people, however they went on the stage one at a time instead of in a line. There was also a piano and back up singers, whereas in all previous seasons it was a capella.
Ryan Seacrest says at the end of the episode (with an on-screen graphic" that the next episode will air "Tomorrow...8/7 central." However, the next episode is airing at 9/8 central.
Marlea Stroman is the first contestant ever to quit American Idol.
