Episode Recap

Luke Reeder, 26, of Hollywood, Florida, is the first unfortunate auditioner up labeled as the worst.Simon tells him everything about it was absolutely mad, from the hat with flaps over the ears, to the t-shirt that came down to his knees. Also in the category is Victor Villegas, 18, of Grand Prairie, Texas. Randy compares him to a sheep. There's the meanness we've been missing the past few weeks!

Amy Davis, 25, of Lowell, Indiana, admits to being in a lower than lower and grew up watching her mom work two jobs and raise six kids, being a single parent most of the time. She wants to pay her back somehow. Randy likes her glistening shoes, and Amy admits to Paula that her grandmother is Japanese when asked her ethnic background. She sings Blue Bayou, and she's no Linda Rondstadt, but she's not bad. Simon says yes, point blank, and Randy likes the possibilities he hears with the vocals, and thinks if she gets over the nerves, maybe she can improve in Hollywood. She promises to work hard and she's through to Hollywood.

Tiffany Campbell believes her voice is a gift from God, and thinks a voice from above has been encouraging her to addition. Her pastor, on the other hand, has told her her voice is still "maturing." Randy gives her an "Amen, Sister" upon hearing her voice is a gift of God. She sings Hallelujah, and I'm thinking this gift needs some better gift wrapping, as Simon asks if God has a returns policy. He then apologizes for being rude, saying she can't sing, and she leaves to entertain those outside who tell her to ssssh.

We've already been introduced to many pairs auditioning this time around, but tonight, we have a love triangle, Corey and Chris Lane, 22, of Kernersville, North Carolina, and Ashley Lawing, 18, Maiden, North Carolina. The guys are twins, driving the same car, having the same friends, and even having the same girlfriend for the most part. Ashley met Chris first, then Corey, and started calling him behind Chris' back. They argue over who gets the other's leftovers. Ryan asks which one she's in love with, and she says it's Chris.

The guys walk in to audition first, doing a rap tune, and they want to show up the Brittenum twins. Their creative rap tune even says how much better than the Brittenums they are.Simon calls it amateurish, and Paula tells them to work on not falling apart when they forget something. They both receive noes, and Simon can only think of how much fun they have with the chicks.

Ashley walks in with a tiny little puppy, a six week Pomeranian named Panda. Simon tells her he's going to steal the puppy, and she says if he puts her through to Hollywood, he can have whatever he wants. She knows she can be the next American Idol and sings Kellie Pickler's Red High Heels, even though she's wearing black heels. Simon asks to be honest and says it's excruciating and torture. She thinks he's lying. The twins admit to telling her she sang good just to get her to audition with them. Ashley asks if it's opposite day, and Simon says even Panda is struggling to get out of the room. Yet, he also tells her she's one of those girls that throughout her life will always get her own way, and she wonders what's wrong with that. Randy wants to put the dog through, and Simon warns her to be nice to the dog as she leaves. Ashley's parting comments is telling Simon he's gorgeous.

Cardin Lee McKinney 20, of Nashville, believe she has what it takes. She walks in to the auditions and sings, One Night Only, from Dreamgirls, sounding very good. Simon thinks she sounds very theatrical and not contemporary, while Paula notes she can sing, yet has a very mature voice. Randy votes yes, Simon votes no, but Paula puts her through. Cardin walks out with her golden ticket, calling it the biggest moment of her life.

A plus model, Joanne Borgella, 25, of Hoboken, New Jersey, comes in to audition, and says she finds her job amazing. When she was growing up, she never saw plus models, and wants others to be proud of the way they look. She's always heard she would be a great singer if she'd lose a little weight, but she doesn't let that get her down. She tells the judges she sang the National Anthem at Madison Square Garden for a college basketball game, and everyone is impressed. She sings Celine Dion's I Love You. Paula tells her she's stunning with a beautiful quality to her voice, and she recognizes her has always been an issue for her. Simon seems incredulous that Paula loves Joanne's voice. Randy thinks she can definitely sing, but finds it got smaller when she got to her upper register. Paula votes yes, Simon vetoes her, but Randy puts her through.

Alicia Stelzl, 18, of Ontario, California, has been singing since she was 8, and feels she was born to do it. She also thinks she's unique, which isn't alway as good thing, at least not on Idol. Tonight she sings Surender, and is like the combination of Dolly Parton and Celine Dion. Simon's mouth hangs open listening to this, then asks her where she sings. Alicia answers she takes lessons, and Simon thinks the instructor just lost his job. When she sings publicly, Alicia thinks everyone likes it, as she gets their attention. He tells her it was an absolutely dreadful audition and painful. Randy calls it the wrong song, while Paula thinks she has a really pretty voice when she's not pushing it. Randy also heard the Dolly in her, and he wants to hear a little, but she don'ts know anything by her. Ashley is told to go learn a Dolly song and come back, and Ryan tries to help her singing 9 to 5, and Islands In the Stream.

When we come back from a break, we find that Alicia went through the people waiting to audition, looking to see if anyone could help her learn Islands In the Stream. Eventually she learned it off someone's internet connection on their laptop. They must have WiFi there. She walks back in for her audition, and as she sings what she just learned in the lobby, it does sound better. Paula says she loves the tone of her voice, and both her and Randy say they like Dolly. Simon refuses to vote now, and she gets through to "Dollywood." After Alicia walks out, Simon looks at Paula, and says he hates to admit it, but she was right.

Brandie Gregorie, 27, of McClennanville, South Carolina, does what Simon calls a "really weird striptease," and combined with her bad singing, it just doesn't work. Next in is Charles Randy Leviner, 17, of Laurel Hill, North Carolina, and his look combined with his loudness, is just a little frightening. Simon wants him to try and come back again when they decide to put the show on at 3 AM.

Joshua Moreland, aka Jay Smoove, 25, of West Palm Beach, Florida, thinks people sense the wow factor looking at him.

He's got energy, doing pushups and sparring, and does an original song, Beautiful Lady. He throws confetti while he sings to Paula, and doesn't do badly, until a terrible falsetto at the end. Simon suggests it's a catchy tune that they'll all be singing tomorrow. He also believes there will be 10,000 dogs outside when they leave, and I'm wondering if Panda will be back. Not stopping, he calls it horribly revolting and over the top, The other judges give him a no, and he's done.

A worker comes in to come sweet up the confetti off the floor, and Simon asks Ryan to come and sweep. Ryan only hands the broom back to the security woman, and Simon asks if they're still on camera, tells Ryan he was patronizing, and comes in and picks up the broom to clean it all up. Paula laughs that he didn't even know how to hold the broom.

Simon has a hard time remembering what state he's in through all these auditions, an then they do a hilariously edited bit of him getting everyone's names wrong. The funniest is calling Diana Kim Kiana Dim. He apologizes for being a little dyslexic that day.

With the next contestant, there's no way his name is going to be pronounced right. Chikezie Eze, 22, of Inglewood, California, originally auditioned last year, but Randy wasn't feeling him. Chikezie is ready to change all that. He sings All the Woman I Need. Simon thinks he's interesting, but he isn't sure his voice is. Paula disagrees, thinking he does have an interesting voice and thinks he's talented. It's up to Randy, who puts him through, as Chikezie walks out with a golden ticket.

Danny Noriega, 17, of Azusa, California, buckled under the pressure last year, and admits it was intense. He thinks everything happens for a reason, and that this reason was for him to get the experience to come back and win it. Paula remembers him, and he tells her it was a bad song choice last time. Regardless, she remembers him having a good voice. Tonight he sings Proud Mary, and sounds pretty good, but he's got weird affectation thing going on. Simon tells him he has a very good voice and Randy calls it a very good audition, one of the best he's seen. Paula says they just don't expect that voice out of him.
