    • A third new way to audition was mentioned in this episode. It is called the "American Idol Small Town Audition Bus Tour". This is to reach out to the smaller towns to try and find new talent. A total of 10 towns were visited by the mobile audition bus in August:  Idaho Falls, Idaho; Billings, Montana; Casper, Wyoming; Rock Rapids, Iowa; Iowa City, Iowa; Bowling Green, Kentucky; Clarksdale, Mississippi; Joplin, Missouri; Dodge City, Kansas and Grand Junction, Colorado. Like with the nomination process, a person who is selected still has to come to the main auditions with the Judges.

    • The Miserables: This section of the episode was an obvious parody to the musical Les Miserables. A play about a man named Jean Valjean, a French peasant, and his quest for redemption after serving nineteen years in jail for having stolen a loaf of bread for his starving sister's child.
