  • wasn't as bad as i thought. mostly did OK. Mandisa's still good, while Ace, Kellie and Katharine were much better than last week. Paris and Elliot were surprisingly below their standards. For the 1st time Paula had a point and Simon sucks big time.moreless

After actually watching the full show (it's delayed here), I have several major revisions:

1.)Paris and Elliot's vocals were below their usual standards. Paris didn't sound at all like LeAnn Rimes, let alone Dionne Warwick. I think Simon praised her because he liked the song (not sounding very country compared to others). If the votings were based on that particular performance only, indeed they deserved to be in the bottom 3.

2.) Ace surprisingly exceeded expectations. But if I were the judge, I would say it's way too late in the competition.

3.) Katharine and Kellie were back in their prime. Their vocals were flawless.

4.) simon was disappointing. for the 1st time he's not being honest. He's supposed to comment on the VOCAL not whether he likes or dislikes the SONG for goodness sake!!!

That aside, I still stand w/ my earlier opinions that:

1.) MANDISA. WAS. GREAT. nothing's wrong with her vocals. what were the judges thinking???? Even though she didn't get the chance to belt the high notes, her vocals remain deep and consistent.

2.) BUCKY SUCKS. he gives completely boring performance with very2 average vocal. he should've gone instead of mandisa.

Overall, good performances from nearly all contestants. Hopefully the real Paris can return next week. And oh, was that really Kenny Rogers??moreless
  • Omigod! What happened to his face???

Most of the group were out of their element and were a little off tonight. Country-week is never one of the show's better nights. But the question of the night has to be, 'What the hell has Kenny Rogers done to his face??" He has a great voice and a has had a great career. Too bad the guy can't just relax and age gracefully. Seeing him was like watching a train wreck. You know you shouldn't stare, but you just have to. Whoever did Kenny's plastic surgery should be sued for malpractice. What a mess!!!moreless

  • Country night, not bad! Not bad at all...

I liked country night! Much, much better than last week. Loved the 'Desperate Housewives' comment Simon said to Ryan! haha (since apparently Ryan and Teri Hatcher are an item).

Taylor Hicks - I miss the old, crazy, arm-swinging Taylor! He needs to put more energy into his performances. Not bad, but not good.

Mandisa - Totally wrong song for her voice. She’s a power singer, and I just didn’t like this night’s singing from her. Not good.

Elliot - Aw, he looked nervous. I thought it was a boring song with boring vocals.

Paris - WOW! I loved it! Loved the song and her vocals. Simon got it right this time! She looked fabulous too. :)

Ace - I actually like when he goes falsetto! Makes me weak in the knees, haha. I thought this was one of his best. I really liked it, you could tell he was putting feeling into the song.

Kellie - Loved it, she sounded hott. She acts so different up on stage.

Chris - My favorite of the night. What I don’t get is Simon’s comment, Chris chose a slower song, not a boring song! There’s a difference. I agree that some songs lately have been snoozers, but this one was brilliant!!! Way to go Chris.

Katharine - Hmm, I didn’t like it. She doesn’t sound good when she hits high notes. Sounds like a cat, lol. She looked nice though.

Bucky - I really liked it, it showed a different side of Bucky, a more mature side. He sounded very nice.moreless
  • Not the best night.

I don't think that anyone did that great last night except for Catherine.

I love Taylor but he sounded way too rushed last night.

Everyones else was just mediocre or terrible.

I really have no clue who they will send home tonight, it could be anyone.

I personally voted for Catherine and for Taylor, based on how much I like him and past performances. He just had a bad night.

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • During the end of Bucky's performance he follows the camera to his left and sings "It's only the best I ever had". In the recap he is facing his right and sings "It's JUST the best I ever had". This is the second time this season that the recap of a performance hasn't matched up with the actual one, and the third time overall (it happened during one of Carrie's performances last year). All three times it has been a final performance and it seems that what they might do is record the rehearsal and use that footage instead since they did not have time to put it together all the time.

    • Actors Chris Rock, Whoopi Goldberg and Rachel Bison were all in the audience tonight.
