      • Hollywood week started on December 9th 2003

      • Tony Bennett made a cameo appearance. He was in the airport when the contestants arrived.

      • Ryan had a poll for AT&T uses to text whether they thought Simon was more mean, less mean or the same from last year. The initial results shown towards the end of the episode were: Less mean 33%, more mean 30% and the same 37%. Final results were revealed the next day on the website.

      • Differences from last year: One round they had to compose their own melody to lyrics of five original songs with only lyrics.
