  • the first season finale of american idol

i wasnt too happy with the fact that hte finale took forever like a couple of hours just to announce who the first ever american idol was. overall i am very pleased with the results that kelly clarkson won american idol over runner up justin guarini. i spent about an hour and a half voting just for her and i felt like i was part of the reason why she won. this is also like almost hte last episode we would see brian dunkleman as cohost with ryan seacrest as he wont be back next season =[ oh well at least the judges are still theremoreless
  • kelly's moment

This episode was the moment of truth. Kelly Clarkson won the Season1 of American Idol! When she sang, they flashed to her parents, and they looked so so so proud of her! Brings tears to my eyes when she sings now that she is doing so very well in her career. Not only does she sing, but she has now appeared in movies such as "From Justin To Kelly". It seemed she was too happy to actually sing "a moment like this" when it was her chance, but she sure did show the world she could sing in her albums.moreless

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • The following is a list of all the special performances tonight, with some special notes on some of them.
The Top 10 sang a 60's medley. The songs in the medley were: "The Shoop Shoop Song (It's in His Kiss)" by Betty Everett (Only the girls sang this song), "California Girls" by The Beach Boys (Only the boys sang this song), "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'" by Nancy Sinatra, "A Fool In Love" by Ike & Tina Turner, "Piece of My Heart" by Janis Joplin, "How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You" by Marvin Gaye, "The Look of Love" by Dusty Springfield (This song was written by Burt Bacharach, who was this year's only mentor), "Don't Make Me Over" by Dionne Warwick (This song was written by Burt Bacharach, who was this year's only mentor), "Unchained Melody" by The Righteous Brothers, "Under the Boardwalk" by The Drifters, "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" by Aretha Franklin, and "Happy Together" by The Turtles.
Justin Guarini-"A Moment Like This" (Original)
      Kelly Clarkson-"Before Your Love" (Original)
The Top 10 sang a Motown medley The songs in the medley were: "Dancing in the Street" by Martha and the Vandellas, "Get Ready" by The Temptations (Only the boys sang this song), "If You Really Love Me" by Stevie Wonder (Only the girls sang this song), "I Can't Help Myself" by The Four Tops, "I'll Be There" by The Jackson 5, "You Are The Sunshine Of My Life" by Stevie Wonder, "You're All I Need to Get By" by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, "My Cherie Amour" by Stevie Wonder, "My Guy" by Diana Ross, "My Girl" by The Temptations, "With You I'm Born Again" by Billy Preston and Syreeta Wright, and then Will Young joined them on stage and sang "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson, with Kelly (and after all the Top 10 joined again). Oddly, Kelly wound up winning so without anyone knowing they had the Winner of the first Pop Idol performing with the Winner of the first American Idol.
Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarini-"It Takes Two" by Marvin Gaye and Kim Weston. This is the first time there is a duet between the Top 2. This becomes a tradition done in the finale of every season of American Idol (with the exception of Season 10, however the Top 2 performed together previously in the competition.)
Kelly Clarkson-"A Moment Like This" (Original). This was performed after she was announced as the Winner. Towards the end of the song the Top 30 joined her on stage.
