The elimination was as I had expected,Michael was asked to leave and he did, very gracefully I might add, with a warm smile. The shocker for me was Matt being in the bottom three. It clearly shock him up as it should have. What happened here, did people just forget to call in because I have to say his performance was one of the best of the night. I'm sure if he was voted off the judges would have used their option to save someone, And if they didn't they would have been morons, in any case he was saved. *sigh* Ruben's performance was weak as it always is. How did this guy win? But Smokey, you still got it baby -- man-o-man!!
This is my first review for an American Idol episode in a while, and I still can't get past why they have their result shows as an hour long when it could be just as good (if not better) in just half an hour. I didn't like Rueben Studdard's performance, and I wasn't feeling Stevie Wonder's either. But anyway, onto the results. The bottom three were Michael Sarver, Matt Giraud, and Scott Macintyre. Okay obviously Michael was going to be in the bottom three with his mediocre to horrible performance the night before. Matt did okay with his singing, but his performance wasn't that strong either. I had to admit I was a bit shocked that Megan didn't end up in the bottom three after her screechy song, but then again maybe people are realizing that although Scott has suffered enormous personal hardship, he isn't the best singer there is. Moving on the bottom two ended up to be Michael and Matt, with Michael Sarver getting eliminated. If they weren't going to use their save on Alexis, who would think that they would use it on Michael? And thus, Michael Sarver is eliminated from American Idol.
So it was another elimination round and guess what... nothing new.
On one hand we did get to see wonderful performances by Ruben, Smokey/Joss Stone, and Stevie Wonder.
On the other hand we had to sit through an hour of American Idol and aaallll their comercials, for a show that could have lasted less than a half an hour.
So when it came down to the bottom three it was no surprise to see Michael Sarver (again), Matt Giraud,
and Scott MacIntyre. Ryan of course told one of the contestents (Scott MacIntyre) that he was safe and Michael Sarver and Matt Giraud were stuck in the bottom two.
Of course after last nights performance (from Michael Sarver) of "Ain't To Proud To Beg" by the Temptations there is no doubt he was the one who would be going home.
There was still a chance for the judges save, and after performing again...a bit better than the night before...it was still not enough to save him...he just wasn't good enough.
