Me personally, I loved Kris Allen's version of "Heartless." At first, I felt that Kanye's version threw me off for a loop because of its arrangement. However, if the song is arranged well, then it becomes a real hit. I really listening to Kanye's music (think "Stronger"). That said, Kris Allen made it to the finals because his acoustic take on the song was his trump card and was well-played. I really miss Danny Gokey and his awesome vocals. But I look forward to the finals.

To the Kanye West fans, I am sorry. But it is my opinion, so feel free to unleash whatever hate you may have for my opinion.

On another note, to clarify my position on "Heartless," Kris' version allowed me to sink into the song and truly feel for the people who have been hurt in relationships. It made me emotionally involved and nearly broke my heart (and I usually do not break easy).

Kris Allen. I can't get into this trend with the synthesized voices.

ITA. The Kayne version bored me to death and I never paid much attention to the song. I love the way Kris did it.

I never heard the Fray version. I'm going to get it.

While I'm not a fan of Kris, I thought he did a pretty good rendition of the song... and let's face it. Kanye can NOT sing. He uses T-Pain's voice synthesizer in ALL of his songs to mask that fact. He should stick to rapping.

Just recently, I listened to The Fray's take on the song. I thought the group did it really well. That said, I would not consider making another poll just to include The Fray in the running. Unfortunately, this is American Idol. In the show, when a contestant tackles known songs, the contestant's version will always be compared to the original. Kanye West is the original artist, so it was relevant to make comparisons between him and the contestant.

Kris, he can actually sing it without the whole voice change thing. Kanye cannot sing it without the voice-change thing. I remember when Kanye sang Heartless on American Idol in his real voice...ugh.

I HAAAATTTTTEEEEE that song with a firy passion. It's probably the only song I can think of that no matter who sings it, I'll probably still hate it. However, Kanye can't sing. I can't stand "artists" using synthesizers. It takes so much away from the song (Which there isn't really much to take away from this song anyway, IMO). I felt like Kris made the most of it, and I really like his musical ideas. However, he doesn't deserve to beat Adam, and IMO shouldn't have beaten out Allison. But that is just me.

I cant really say because I like Kanyes version, and hiphop in general, and I usually like the first version of something I like more than the 2nd. But at the same time, I also like Kris' version in general. It just depends on my mood, I guess. If I'm driving and want something more upbeat, than Kanyes. If I just want to hear the song and want to hear it more beautifully done, than Kris. Kinda like when I like a song but I also like the acoustic version of that song, it just depends on whats going on, but I dont like one more or less than the other. And I never heard The Frays version so I cant speak for that though I keep meaning to DL it, I just keep forgetting.

well im glad i introduced you to it, and i respect the purity of the poll

that said, bjblr i totally agree that kris shouldve been gone at 4. but i probably prefer his style of music to kanyes.

    1:Kris Allens

    2:The Fray

3:Sanjaya or William Hung or Tiny Tim.

    4:Any one else...

    5:Kanye West.

    6:Adam...No, never Adam.

What I loved About Kris is that I really felt it. His voice and the guitar made it touching and talented.

Even Mr. West liked Kris's version. I heard he put it up on his website.
