    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (4)

      • There were either 48 or 49 contestants left at the end of the Individual Performance Round (In this episode a contestant said Top 48, but in the next one Ryan said 49). At the end of this episode 17 contestants (8 girls and 9 boys) were told they had made the Top 30 while 11 were told no. Either 20 or 21 (depending on whether it was 48 or 49) contestants are left to find out.

      • When Malcolm Allen was going up the elevator, it showed that there were 26 contestants left and 16 spots. However in the episode 27 had already gone and 15 spots were taken which means that there were only 15 left and less than 26 to go. However it did also say 5:25PM, and was shown out of context, as in the following episode at one point, they said it was 1:00PM. It just doesn't make sense that they would show it at that point when it wasn't accurate for that episode. Most likely they figured the average person wouldn't be keeping track.

      • For the Live tweeting the hashtag options for the person they were voting on were #IdolTop30 and #IdolHome.

      • This episode's Twitter hashtags were: #HollywoodWeek, #FinalJudgement and #AmericanIdol.

    • NOTES (2)

      • Differences from last year: It was not very clear when exactly the cuts were made for the Individual Performances, either on the spot or after everyone had gone, but it was probably not after 8, such as last year. There also seemed to be no rooms, as in previous seasons. The Final Judgement has gone back to the old format where they go one at a time up the elevator and are told if they are safe or not. The Sing Off was also brought back for contestants that the Judges were not sure about, where during the Final Judgement two singers had to sing on the spot and the judges decided who would go through. The Las Vegas round is completely cut from this season. The venue of the Final Judgement is at the Orpheum Theatre.

      • Randy Jackson made his first appearance of the season, when he showed up during one of the breaks. Although not officially mentioned on the show, it had been revealed (and gets mentioned in the following episode) that Randy Jackson replaces Jimmy Iovine as the new In-House Mentor.
