  • Not the worst of the Finale shootouts.

While both performers showed well on the night, neither Allen or Lambert slam-dunked the evening. Production values were high, especially on Lambert's Mad World number - it looked like the beginning of an Adam Lambert concert, and he is a unique performer. I expect to see much from his career and hope I'm not disappointed. Allen showed his versatility as a musician by accompanying himself on both piano and guitar. Unfortunately, they were both saddled with a wan, virtually unsingable winner's single. That thing won't sell in the Kelly Clarkson/Fantasia range. The judges were as expected, with only Simon rising to the occasion and speaking his true mind.moreless
