Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (8)

    • This episode ended with "To be continued".

    • The second half of this episode had opening credits again, due to the fact that, although being a two hour episode, it was two different rounds of the contest.

    • After the Las Vegas round 40 contestants remained. At the end of the episode 5 people (three girls and two boys) had been told they made Top 24 and 5 were told they did not. 30 contestants remain to find out.

    • Differences from last year: Two new rounds have been added before the Final Judgment. The first one is the Las Vegas round, in which the remaining contestants are flown to Las Vegas and in duos or trios must perform a song. In this particular season it is songs by The Beatles and the auditions were at the Love theatre at The Mirage, where the Cirque Du Soleil was performing their Beatles inspired play, "All You Need is Love". After all the duos and trios perform everyone is brought out and the judges randomly called people up and the whole line was either safe or sent home. After a few times the judges revealed that everyone who was left was safe. The second new round is the Sing For Your Life. The contestants are flown to LA to perform. This is similar to the Individual Performance as they all sing one by one at the Howard Hughes' Spruce Goose aircraft hangar. The place where the Final Judgement happens seems to be different but it is not specified where it takes place.

    • Contestant, Ashley Sullivan got married while in Las Vegas.

    • To inspire all the contestants, all the contestants went to see the play "All You Need is Love" by Cirque Du Soleil while in Las Vegas.

    • This is Jimmy Iovine's first appearance on the show (minus a cameo in the first episode), when him and a group of executives listened to the groups practice. What his major role is, was still not officially announced in this episode.

    • This is a 2 hour episode.
