American Idol works best when there's more good singers than bad, when we get to see what America has to offer in the way of singing instead of what it does NOT have to offer, or what we don't want offered to us. More than any episode this season or maybe even last season, we saw a lack of bad singers and better singers overall.. even the singers who were bad had at least some redeeming qualities to them (for the most part). What worked best was the way they showcased great singers right in a row.. there was about three or four singers in a row each time they showed us good singers.. and I have to say, Chris Medina not only had a tragic backstory but he had some pretty incredible vocals. I think it's irritating when the show goes for overdramatic moments, but in this case, the vocals matched the story and it didn't feel like he was pushing his tragedy on the judges. Season 10 not only seems to have a new energy, but the judges are great as well. Steven Tyler is the man, and I sure don't miss Simon Cowell at all.moreless
