American Idol needs to get a lot better at not making it seem like they're taking people's sad personal stories and milking them for all their worth. After all the complaints that people gave about Chris Medina in last night's episode and how it seems like he was using his girlfriend's injury as a sympathy vote.. but he has a great singing voice, which means he's being unfairly judged that way. And after tonight's episode, it's proof that the show needs to just stop showing all these schmaltzy and corny moments and focus on the singing. Why show these backstories? Maybe every now and then, but not for everybody. It's not as if you need to have a sad background to be a good singer.
That being said, there were some good singers here: the exes who sung together and then separately were pretty great, as was the last fifteen year old girl that sang. I honestly can't remember the names at this point, but at least we had some real talent. As for the bad singers.. seriously, who really cares. At least the judges are doing a great job though.
So far, I really do like Season 10 of American Idol. Let's see how the show does after auditions as well.
