Before Ryan revealed the results of who went home (or rather that neither went home) both Carmen and Trenyce sang a song.
The Ford music video was "Car Wash" by Rose Royce. The video was the contestants cleaning cars at a car wash and fooling around with the soap and water.
There were over 15 million votes, a record according to Ryan.
*I'm not sure if this quote was on episode 45 or 46*
Lady in the audience: Paula, if you saw Simon walking down the street would you take 2 steps back or 10 steps foward?
Paula: I would take 10 steps foward, run right into his arms, and start kissing him.
Ryan (as crowd boos in the background): America voted... and they booed Simon as well. You're still in the competition!
There were two group numbers: "A Night To Remember" by Shalamar and "Boogie Wonderland" by Earth, Wind & Fire Ft. The Emotions.
This is the first time producers decided to not have anyone get voted off. They did not want the votes to go to waste so all the votes from this week were added to the votes for the next week to decide the bottom three.
There was another AT&T poll asking why Simon was in a bad mood the previous night:Hates Disco 25%, Hates Everything 28%, Wore Tight Pants 47%.
For an unexplained reason Kimberly Locke was the only contestant (of the Top 10) to not record the "God Bless the U.S.A." song (she at least did not appear in the video, if she did record the song).
The bottom 3 were Kimberley Locke, Trenyce and Carmen Rasmusen. Kimberley, who was in the bottom 3 for the second time, was immediately sent to safety. First time bottom 3 members, Trenyce and Carmen, were told that since Corey Clark was disqualified earlier that week that nobody was going home.
This "special" American Idol results show was an hour long.
The title could be an allusion to the fact that no one went home so there was no "countdown". "The Final Countdown" is also a 1986 song and album bythe bandEurope.
