  • I'm not shocked nor surprised.

I knew Melissa was going home. I had predicated, after she made it to the top 12, she'd end up in twelfth. I was right. In my opinion, Ayla should have been in the Top 12 and Bucky or Kevin should have been in the bottom 3. I mean, Ace and Lisa!?!? Come now America. At least we got it right with Melissa. All I haave to say is, I am not shocked. I am not surprised. I'm glad she's gone. Now it's time for Bucky and Kevin to be hitting the old dusty trail.moreless
  • The worst result after Brenna's entrance to top 24. america still has a lot to learn about picking the right people.

like most reviewers here, i was shocked that Lisa and Ace were in the bottom 3. Their performances weren't the best but they definitely were waaaaaayyyyy much better than the annoying Kevin and sleepy Kellie. Even Melissa was much better than them!!! I'm surprised that American audiences still vote out of cuteness than real talent. I hope in next episode they can get to their senses and vote for those who can really sing.

Poor Lisa...I think she's just as shocked as everyone else when she's mentioned instead of Bucky. I think she didn't get the chance to show her amazing vocal range because of her song choice, but she's still a great singer and performer. Hopefully next week she can get back to the top ranks.

  • Definitely not my pick to go

So the first vote-off show is history. Was it shocking? Was it surprising? Was it a scandal? Well, yes, and no.

Ace - I have to admit I wasn't too surprised to find him in the bottom three. Being pretty (I will admit that he's quite the gorgeous hunk) and being good is not enough at this stage of the competition any more. Hopefully this was a wakeup call for him though. It would be sad to see him leave that early already.

Lisa - Now that came as a bit of a surprise to me. She did a great job with her rendition last night, but that's life. Somehow people just didn't like it enough. One thing that worries me about her (and Paris too for that matter) is that she comes across as much older than she is. Okay, she doesn't have the experience as, say, Chris or Taylor to work with the band and maybe make a new arrangement of the song, but the spark of her youth had been missing some. Again though, hopefully it will shake her and wake her up.

Melissa - I will admit that I have liked Melissa. Unlike some of the other girls in the top twelve, her voice is unique. I love that raspy, smoky alto of hers. But forgetting lyrics to an all-time classic such as "Lately" won't get you votes. It's sad to see her go as she brought a lot to the competition personality-wise. Though, if she hadn't been voted off this week, it would have been next week for sure. Her fanbase isn't strong enough.

Did the right one go? Yes and no. My pick would have been Kevin, well, but that's me.moreless
  • What????

Okay so Melissa forgot the words to the song. But she covered it well. She certainly sang better then Kevin. Stevie Wonder is a hard songster to sing. His songs are not easy and requires a trained voice to be able to do the runs he has in his songs. I thought Chris rocked. Melissa was not that bad other then her small blurb. This is gonna be a tough year to pick an Idol because many of them are so good. Kevin sings with a lisp. and thank God Paris doesn't sing as she talks. I think Taylor is a bit strange but has a great voice.moreless
  • Predictable.

Before watching the show I knew right away that Melissa was going. She didn't wow anyone. I can't believe Kellie wasn't in the bottom 3. Her performance was BORING. Kevin wasn't any good as well. Has American Idol, a once great show, turned into a half-bitten popularity contest? Only time will tell. Or will it?
