I may have cheated on reviewing the opening episode of "American Idol." but most of the time, I got the sound turn down, so I won't have to hear them sing. When I did hear them sing, I turn on the sound for a few seconds, then I turn off the sound again. Yes, I agree, spome of the singers are good, buth others are terrble. It's like "The Gong Show," minus the gong. I miss "The Gong Show." At least it was very funny. I feel sorry for Paula, Randy and simon. They had to put up with this. I feel sorry for them.
This was an awesome way to kick off season 7 of American Idol. The judges and Ryan were great like always. The performers, some of them had me crying laughing. My personal favorite was the guy who sang Go Down Moses and I'll Fly Away. I had tears coming down my cheeks. And Paula and Randy had the same reaction. I love how Simon didn't even crack a smile. Then there was Alexis Cohen. What was her problem!?! And the Star Wars fanatic. She was flippin out and said they didn't want originality or something. And Paula's stalker dude. That was SCARY! That guy has some issues he needs to get straightened out. There were so many more! How sad is it that you can remember the bad people, better than the good ones.
The show that is #1 is back for more. As they are in the city of brotherly love. But you know the judges won't show them any kind of that love. As they are competing as we see one person named Joey. He lost over 200 pounds and he is the first constestant. The one where this guy sings a love song to Paula was pretty crazy. But you know that they all will be crazy. As it is only the beginning of the 2008 season of American Idol. Randy the cool judge, Paula the one that gets excited, and Simon, the British judge though sarcastic proves that he does have a soul though he rarely gets to show it.
good for MD, OR, DE, some NJ, CA and RI (you forget edited of this) bad for CT and PA. This is worst audition ever I have seen. I have vacation in Phildephia in August 2006. Girl who made to Hollywood was cool ever. I gave this D+. And You forget edit of Alexis Brown's audition she from RI. and You wrong edit that Phildephia person don't make to hollywood. this is boring audition ever I waste my 2 mins of borrrring singer. I hate people who not make to hollywood. I like people who make to hollywood. next is dallas today!!!!!!!
American Idol is my TV guilty pleasure and I'm thrilled to have it back. After a pretty dull season last year, this episode made it easy to remember why I love this show (especially the auditions!) - bitter, entitled wannabes, sweetly sincere oblivious train wrecks, the occasional side-show act, and my favorite - no-talents who somehow think that their own judgment is far more valid than that of three seasoned industry professionals.
Some highlights:
1) An angry Pat Benatar-wannabe who, after being very gently turned down by Simon and pals went on a lengthy tirade which concluded with her deciding that she was going to show them by becoming an actress.
2) The finance manager who brought music into the workplace by kicking off meetings with his own version of an MC Hammer dance number (think the Comic Relief episode of the British version of The Office).
Many more, but I'm too tired to type out more...maybe later.
I thought it was a really good comeback, just as funny as the auditions tend to be for this show. I really think this portion of the show sets up the later portions of the show where you really dont laugh as much. While the judges might have to sit through some bad auditions, these auditions really draw in your crowd to give them someone to root for in the later rounds of the competition. There were some bad singers that stood out more then others - the man that wrote Paula the love song was very creepy, but very funny at the same time. The guy who waxed himself and only got to sing two words was a little much. But like Simon said he was there simply to be on television and nothing more. Couple of good singers gt through I thought, with my main two being the last one and the first one of the night which I thought was a very well balanced show. Overall, the auditions are really only as good as the amount of times you laugh and I really thought this year started off strong.
