      • During one of the commercial breaks the cameras stayed on and the audience got to see what happens during them.

      • The five contestants who were not selected to perform and automatically eliminated tonight were: Andrina Brogden, Kenzie Hall, Jillian Jensen, Brandy Neelly and Austin Wolfe.

      • It was revealed that Ben Briley won America's vote to be in the Top 15 Boys. Ryan did not reveal how many votes but said "millions".

      • Majesty is back to being called and credited as JUST Majesty Rose, without the York. Jena is now credited as Jena Irene not Jena Asciutto.

      • This season, when the contestants are done their performance they head to "The Lounge"  and remain there for the rest of the episode, and as they do Ryan will give the voting information. Previously Ryan would do it on stage with them there, and then afterwards they would head backstage.

      • This year the texting is not limited to only AT&T users, but anyone can text. Also, it is revealed that if you vote online or with the App you have until 10AM PST the next morning to vote. Phone and texting is still only 2 hours though.

      • Even though this is very similar to the Semi-Finals of every other year, where America gets to vote, it is called Rush Week, and there are a number of differences. The reason it is called Rush Week is because unlike in all other seasons there was really only one week between the Hollywood Rounds and this, whereas usually there are a few weeks to a month. There was also a workshop for all the contestants, where the new In-House Mentor Randy Jackson, led a team of Vocal Coaches, Stylists and even Spiritual Leaders, as well as others in helping the contestants become better. Season 5 contestant Chris Daughtry and Season 8 Runner Up Adam Lambert were performance mentors, becoming the first time ever there have been mentors in the Semis. The biggest twist was that for the first time ever not all Top 15 girls (and boys the next night) would perform for America's vote. The Judges only picked the Top 10.

      • Rickey Minor returns as the music director, replacing Ray Chew. Rickey left at the end of Season 9 to be on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, but since that ended he has come back.

      • This episode introduces the completely revamped stage, as well as a very different sounding theme song, which is an even more remixed version of the original.
