  • My kind of music

    8.8
    "Great"
I love songs from the fifties, sixties and seventies as my favorite type of music
    Can't stand some of the 90's & today's music
Just not a fan of either rap or heavy metal
It is good that they sung my kind of music
As it was more cleaner as well as the words better to understand
Again the judges are there just to be.....
    Well....judges you know
Again it was a great show
The singers were good most of the timemoreless
  • One of the better weeks so far this season

Here's my round up of the performances of the Final 11. My general comments are that it was a much better week than the previous week, based on:-

    1) I recognised more of the songs
    2) Everyone sung better (generally)
    3) I dont like singer-themed weeks; these themes create more variety

Mandisa: OMG what an entrance. DIVA STATUS ACHIEVED.

Bucky: A fairly bland performance, not the best vocal.

Chris: I liked the fact he made it own, and I think he has an amazing voice. I'll only really praise him when he does something out of his comfort zone, but within it he's better than any other contestant.

Paris: Not quite as good as last week, but she sang it well. Instrument backing was too heavy - an acapella version would have been great.

Katherine: Interesting choice of song, great vocal, shines with star quality every time.

Taylor: Poor choice of song, but I enjoyed his performance none the less.

Lisa: Good choice of song, ok vocal.

Kevin: I thought he chose a brilliant song for himself and the emotion was well convicted in his vocals. Good job!

Elliot: Fair enough, he can sing, but I was bored during his performance.

Kellie: A much better choice of song this week, totally within her comfort zone.

Ace: Better than last week, his performances always have a shroud of mystery over them. Sometimes its good, and sometimes its not. Not sure about this week. Just ok.moreless
  • A good Night

I think the contestants learned a lot from Barry Manilow. He was helpful to them and gave them constructive help instead of just telling them what they want to hear. It was great to have them get help with songs but not forced to choose from a Barry Manilow song. Though his songs with stand the test of time they are not suited to all the contestants. But Barry's love of music of all kinds made him essential to the learning process of the contestants. The performances were great and you can tell that the contestants took a lot away with them from Barry's help. Another great show.moreless

Dispite the fact I thought 50's night would be awful, it turned out pretty good, Taylor was good, Bucky did ok, Mandisa was Great, Ace was good , ButChris was so completely awesome, I loved his version of Walk the Line, so much and I am a Johnny Cash fan, but he took that song and I could hear him singing that on the Radio and having a huge hit, Good to see Constantine again as wellmoreless
  • I Love the 50s!

    "Good"
Honestly, I don't normally watch American Idol...In fact, I kind of hate it. But yesterday I was flipping through channels and saw Manilow--who I adore--was on, so I started to watch and then found out that the contestants were singing some of my favorite 50s songs and well...For once I actually watched almost an entire American Idol show. So, kudos for one installment of AI that really got it right!
