  • Ouch! A very boring night....

    I don't know what it was (chalk it up to what everyone else is saying: song choice), but this episode was one of the worst I can remember. Lisa didn't start the show off too well (I'm not a Kelly Clarkston fan, so the song bored me and it wasn't sung very well). Next, I'm usually ok with country, but Bucky and Kellie made me hate it tonight. And as hot as Ace is, he looked like a freak at the end of his song (although I think that the song itself wasn't sung to horribly...he's done worse). I was hoping Mandisa could bring the evening out of it's slump, but I know we've seen better from her (at least she got me into her song, I have to admit I did a little clapping and smiling). I thought Taylor did pretty well cosidering the way the night was going. I have to admit though, I missed his cheesy moves!! But it was good to see him just stand there and sing for once. Although I absolutely adore Chris, I think Simon is right, he's going to have to mix it up a little bit if he wants to win it. He did ok tonight, but I didn't enjoy it as much as some of his previous performances. Katharine I thought did ok. Not her best vocal, but better then most everyone else of the night. I loved my girl Paris though. She can sing! I think the dancing was a LITTLE much, but what else can you expect from a Beyonce' song. As for the closing, I actually kind of liked Elliot's version of (just about everyone's favorite TV show nowadays), "One Tree Hill's" title song. All in all, a very disapointing night. Even my favorites were kind of dull. Let's hope they are better next week. As for my predictions of the bottom 3 (it's kind of hard to guess from this episode), but I'd probably say Lisa, Kellie, and possibly Bucky or Ace. Oh well, at least one thing made me smile tonight (Ryan trying to get everyone to picture Chris singing a Celine Dion song...that is just too funny right there...).moreless

    Right, so here's my weekly round up. Yay! Songs Of The 21st Century Week! With the American invasion of the British charts intensifying greatly over this decade, its quite likely I'll recognise at least half if not more of the songs!!!!!

    Lisa: Ok. Because Of You. Kelly Clarkson. Major single this year, flooded the airwaves. All I can say is, thank God she didn't try and tackle Since U Been Gone. She failed to make the song her own and modify it to avoid comparison, making her seem like "second best".

    Kellie: I wasn't familiar with the song, her vocals sounded good. That's really all I can say.

    Ace: I know the song vaguely well, its a kind of melancholy pop-rock number you listen to not to relate to depression for nostalgic purposes. I thought the song deviated from his comfort zone and personality too much.

    Taylor: Good vocal. Boring song. Like Kellie, not much to say.

    Mandisa: I was impressed with her gospel spiritual choice. I didn't feel the vocals were as amazing as other weeks, but she still commanded the stage and shone. I disagree with Simon completely on his comments.

    Chris: Ok, he does the rock thing brilliantly. He is better in his comfort zone than ANYONE else is in the competition. But is it just me (and Simon), or is the whole thing being OVERDONE? I mean I don't mind his rock take on things, but he killed the sunshine of Stevie Wonder Week and turned 50's week devil-like. Oddly enough, this was where his style fit the theme of the week the most, but its just getting boring now. I still give him props for his vocals - they are INCREDIBLE.

    Katherine: So, like Lisa, she takes on a fairly contemporary hit, very interesting choice of song. The difference? Katherine didn't pick a song by a former American Idol. She didn't pick a song by an artist that is REALLY hot on the charts at this very moment in time. She also sung it well. It wasn't amazing, and parts sounded like an exact copy, but it was good enough.

    Bucky: In truth, I've actually forgotten his performance entirely, and I only watched the show 2 hours ago, so it probably wasn't very good was it?

    Paris: What Was Simon On Tonight?!?!!! Usually I agree with him, but she knocked this one out of the park. No questions asked.

    Elliot: Something about him STILL annoys me. He sings well, but the only song I've ever recognised that he picked was "Heaven" by Bryan Adams, which he murdered.moreless

    everybody picks the strangest song. Lisa makes a big, BIG mistake by singing the song from the most successful Idol winner. As Paula says, there's going to be a comparison. katharine's version of Christina Aguilera's song is also PAINFUL. She has difficulties in high notes. Bucky finally picks the right song for him but still he's so average, just like Ace. Man these guys would've gone early if not because of their looks. Elliot and Paris are the highlight of the show. Mandisa's as good as ever but many won't like her song choice, I think. Taylor isn't that interesting when he doesn't do anything...I honestly think his voice isn't the best. Overall, a flat show. I expect something smashing next wk.moreless

    This night of performances was mediocre at best. There weren't any break out performances like in the weeks before and my favorites dissapointed me a little bit.

    Lisa Tucker: I think she is the next to go. She totally ruined that Kelly Clarkson song. I never really liked it in the first plave and she just made me loathe it even more.

    Kellie Pickler: That song was a terrible pick. I mean come on! Simon was right. Although it wasn't good her popularity will bring her through to the next rounds.

    Ace Young: I hate him! I hated his hand quivering in the end! Please america, vote him off!

    Taylor: Taylor did alright.

    Mandisa: She was pretty bad 2. She's been great so she won't get voted off.

    Chris: He is one of my favorites and my pick to win. I'm not so sure after last night. It wasn't bad but he'll have to show more variety like Simon says if he wants to be the next american idol.

    Katherine: She was alright. It was better than a lot of the talent tonight. I hated her outfit though and I have a feeling she'll be in the bottom 3.

    Bucky: He is going to be voted off soon. He's ok and doesn't compare to Chris, Mandisa or the better of the talent.

    Paris: She was pretty good. It was an ok Beyonce impersonation but she will definitely go through to the next round.

    Elliott: I think Elliott was overrated. His dancing was "hideous" and he made "I don't want to be" look like a rap song with those moves. The vocals were ok.

    Overal A dissapointing night

    I have been watching american Idol for a while but it has gotten to the point where I fast-forward to the end just to see the look back. They don't have that good a selection and I think Kevin should have stayed. But again very dissapointing. I probably will stop watching before the winner is announced.

It switched to blue but had Taylor's name and number, then to the band with Mandisa's number then went off. It came on a few seconds later with the blue background and Mandisa's name.

    • When Ace's video clip started Kellie's information was still on the screen for a few seconds.

    • After Kellie performed they showed two women sitting beside each other and the blue line that usually has people's name on it showed up but no name(s) came up. It was most likely celebrities.
