One finalist's journey will come to an end as America's vote is revealed live.
After Curtis found out he had the lowest amount of votes he sang "I Believe I Can Fly" by R. Kelly.
Bon Jovi performed "Because We Can" and Phillip Phillips performed "Gone, Gone, Gone". After his performance, Randy presented Phillip with an award for having his single, "Home" got quadruple platinum. This is also the first time that the Elimination song is not performed in the Top 2 week, but rather right at the beginning.
The Group Performance was "Shine Your Way" by Owl City and Yuna, from the movie "The Croods" (Special clips from the film were shown in the background as they sang).
For the first time ever the results showed the Top 3 AND the ranking of all the contestants in order from 4-10. The Top three were mentioned by Ryan but who came in which place was not. The Top 3 was Candice, Kree and Angie. 4th was Lazaro, 5th was Amber, 6th was Janelle, 7th was Burnell and 8th was Paul (although he ranked in the Bottom 3, it was not played out as him in the Bottom 3, but rather just had a Bottom 2 for the week). Revealing who is Safe via the screen until the Bottom 2/3 remain is the new format as suppose to having everyone take a turn and Ryan revealing if they are safe or not.
The recap was done as it was in the past, where there was one video that had all the performances, right at the beginning of the episode, but it still included Jimmy's individual critiques.
Ryan said that they have never revealed the Top 3 before, but that is untrue. However, they have never done it in the way they did tonight. What they have never done is show the order from 4-10.
The Mayor of Woodville, TX, which is where Kree grew up, came on stage and gave her a key to the city.
Actress Jane Lynch was in the audience tonight.
This episode's Twitter hashtags were: #idolresults, #BonJoviOnIdol, #PhillipsOnIdol and #idolgoodbye.
There were 26 million votes.
There is no explanation as to why, or even a mention of it, but there is no Ford Music Video this season. This is the first time there hasn't been one, since it was introduced in Season 2.
