(Judges' comments to A.J. Gil) Randy: Very nice performance. Not sure I was blown away... we've seen some great, great singers tonight... I've seen better from you. Paula: ...I really like what you're wearing tonight... you started behind and then you were ahead... when you hit is right, you really shine... not the best that you've done. Simon: I think you are a very nice person. I hope you achieve your dream... I think if you were to win based on that performance, it would be a disaster because it wasn't good enough.

(Judges' comments to Kelly Clarkson) Randy: Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly sound brilliant man. Sang your heart out! Brilliant! No problems. Paula: ...what's great about you is we embrace you. We feel like we know you. You're dorky. You're adorable. I just love you... and your voice is unbelievable. Simon: Kelly, I think you've just raised the game, haven't you?

(Judges' comments to Jim Verraros) Randy: Jim, Jim... dude that was not really good at all. That was really bad. That was terrible. Paula: ...maybe tonight wasn't your golden moment but you should be proud that you're up there. Simon: Ugghhh... I think you're a nice guy but I'm hear to judge who's going to be a superstar in this competition and with that performance it was nowhere good enough.

(Judges' comments to Justin Guarini) Randy: ...great performance man. This is going to be a tough competition. I think you also have that American Idol thing going on dude... Paula (Paula drools, leans her head on Randy's shoulder and says nothing) Simon (to Paula): That's the first intelligent thing you've said on this show. (to Justin):...Everyone's been hyping up Justin Timberlake as the hottest star... Timberlake watch out for you!

(Judges' comments to Tamyra Gray) Randy: ...I think you could be what American Idol is all about... Paula: Honey, flawless! I say touchdown! Simon: ...The American girls have totally blown away the English girls and you're the reason why...

(Judges' comments to Ejay Day) Randy: ...definitely the best singer we've heard tonight. It sounded very good. Paula: Pretty damn flawless! You made everyone excited. It's worth tuning into. Simon: ...I think you have a great voice. American Idol? No.

(Judges' comments to Nikki McKibbin) Randy: Nikki, Nikki, Nikki love your look, big supporter of the whole wild child thing... it was the wrong choice of song... it's tame, it's weird... Paula: ...The camera loves you... I was waiting for you to just break out and be authentically Nikki and I didn't feel that... Simon: ...You look like you've been through a daytime TV makeover... You lost that kind of thing you had going for you... that was not you.
