  • The boys stepped it up!

Wow, what a difference a week makes. I am sure the girls must have put the pressure on the guys to step up their performance.

The most memorable moment for me was:-

    1) Simon confessing that he loves puppy (that was hilarious)

    2) Sundance's dedication to his son (that was so sweet)

The top 3 (IMO) for the performance of the night are (in order of preference):-

    1) Sundance Head - Oh my, he really blew me away! He really did a 360 to bring the house down! He's been my favourite to watch but last week I kinda felt he really sucked. This week though, different story altogether.

    2) Blake Lewis - I thought Simon was wrong when he said that Blake had no originality. His beat-boxing and scatting was awesome. He is one singer who is really versatile and I like it. Good job!

    3) Between Phil Stacey or Chris Richardson - Although Simon said Chris was the best performance of the night,I disagree with him (although I usually concur with his opinion). I thought he was a bit boy band-ish, but he was just alright (at least better than some of the other guys). Phil's voice is really commercial (kind of reminded me of Chris Daughtry) and I can hear him singing on the radio now. A job well done for both of them.

My prediction for who will be booted out:-

    1) Sanjaya - need I say more. I feel sorry though coz he's so sweet dedicating his song to his gramps. 2) Brandon - didn't really feel his singing (including last week). Quite a forgettable performance.

So, I guess I'll see if my predictions are right at the result show. Time to watch the girls perform.moreless
  • "I Love Puppies"

What An Episode! The Guys Are Definitely Back!! (well, some of them). The One Who Impacted Me The Most Would Absolutely Be Sundance. He Was Over The Top Amazing! I Had One Word After Watching His Performance: "Finally!" .. I Also Loved Chris Richardson, He Looks Hot, And He Sounds Better! I Would Say That He's My Favorite From The Guys So Far ! I Think The Judges Were Fair In This Episode, I Agreed With Them (For The Most Part). And Oh God, They Made Me Laugh! What's The Deal With Simon And Puppies. Lol! That Was Hilarious! And Randy's Reaction To Jared's Hand Move In His Performance, "It's Like A McSteamy Move" That Cracked Me Up (Grey's Anatomy Fan, Glad To See That Randy's One Too). Heheh, Anyways Awesome Performances By The Guys, I Wonder If The Girls Will Be Better…moreless
  • I have found during this week that the guys are still not as good as the girls, although they were a little bit better this week.

I have no clue what to exspect from the girls, but i do have to say that the guys were better this week then last week, although i still feel like the girls are better then them. The guys i liked this week were probbaly Chris richardson, manly because i had never heard the song before, and now i love it! Chris sligh was ok, i still love his voice, but i couldn't stand the song he picked. Well i liked Nick Pedro again too, but he still sings too low for me. And i have also found with him that he takes his time to much when hes singing, and he should really let loose just a little bit more. Everybody else was ok, except for Sanjaya Malacar. He couldn't be serious. I only gave him only one vote for one perpose only, he dedicated his song to his grandfather who died, i thought that was a nice thing to do. But it doesn't matter i could have voted for him ten times, and hes still going home thursday night. And for the other guy who i think is going to go home, i feel like its going to be Brandon for some reason.moreless
  • Bye Bye Sanjaya. They should have kept your sister.

Sanjaya was the worst, and Phil Stacy has no interesting voice. Simon called it right, but when the judges backed off and said Stacy will be back next week, it completely blew me away.

I think Sanjaya's sister is so much cuter, more charismatic, and she had a lovely voice. The judges always seem to find the meekest party as the best voice during audition. For example, with Antonella and her teacher friend they immediately proclaimed Antonella had the better voice, and with Sanjaya and his sister, they must have been watching on camera as Seacrest interviewed them, because they quickly said Sanjaya had a better voice than his outgoing sister. The judges don't like anyone that appears to have arrogant confidence (the sister), yet they condemn low-profile contestents for not having charisma. You just can't please them.

Chris Sligh has a voice orders of magnitude richer than the rest.moreless
  • It's all about the judges at this stage, and they were hilarious.

That was soooo funny!!! that is exactly why I watch this show. At the beginning of every season I am not intrested in the singers, in fact I could'nt care less about them. At the beginning it's all about the judges. I don't know what happened tonight but I liked it, Ryan and Simon were hilarious, and Paula and Randy had a few jokes too. I really liked all the impersonations, that was a fine exemple to a great episode, who cares how the boys sang, and by the way they weren't that bad, the judges were terrific. It was a really big change in comparison to last week which was kinda dull (exept from a few girl who were great).moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • Ryan screwed up when trying to read the number for Blake.

    • Comedian and gameshow host Jeff Foxworthy was in the audience. He was promoting his new show "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?". Ryan asked him an example of a question, and Jeff said "how many sides does a trapezoid have?" Neither Ryan nor Randy knew (unless it was all an act).

    • During the video clips, the contestants dedicated their performance to someone.
      Phil: His navy crew
      Jared: His parents
      A.J.: His parents
      Sanjaya: His grandfather
      Chris Sligh: His wife
      Nick: His girlfriend
      Blake: His parents
      Brandon: His grandmother
      Chris Richardson: His grandmother
      Sundance: His son

  • QUOTES (11)

    • Simon (to Chris Richardson): Chris, we've said when we first met you you're somebody to watch. For me, best tonight by a mile.

    • Simon (to Brandon after Brandon wished his dad a happy birthday): And by the way, it's my mum's birthday in November. Happy birthday, mum, in 6 months time. And I like puppies.

    • Simon (to Brandon): All this 'I'm feeling it' nonsense doesn't work, you have got to be out there and show why you are a great singer.

    • Simon (to Blake): I thought the first part was completely copycat, as if you'd been watching the video. The second bit was great, you showed some originality. And by the third part of the song, your tuning went.

    • Simon (to Nick): I think you should have dressed more accordingly, it looks a little bit like you came straight from the office.

    • Simon (to Chris Sligh): I was a little bit nervous at the beginning regarding your relationship that you've dedicated a song called Trouble to your wife, but then the lyrics kind of made sense.

    • Simon (to Sanjaya): It was like some ghastly lunch where after lunch your parents have asked the children to dress up and sing.

    • Simon (to Phil): You're not going anywhere, you will be back here next week.

    • Simon (to Jared): It did remind me though of 'The Love Boat' and I'm kind of imagining if they had a cabaret singer on 'The Love Boat,' I think we would have seen something similar to that.

    • Ryan: (about "Let's Get It On") The things we've have done to that song. Ah the memories.
      Simon: What have you done?

    • Simon: (to Sanjaya) Halfway through the song you were whispering!

  • NOTES (3)

    • Ryan announced that Season 3 contestant Jennifer Hudson had won an Oscar for her performance in "Dream Girls." She is the first American Idol contestant to ever win an Oscar.

    • This episode was 1 and a half hours long.
