The Top 10 girls perform for America, hoping to win enough votes to stay in the competition. Who will be back to sing next week? America will decide.

Performing tonight are: Alaina Alexander Antonella Barba Gina Glocksen Haley Scarnato Jordin Sparks Lakisha Jones Leslie Hunt Melinda Doolittle Sabrina Sloan Stephanie Edwardsmoreless
  • When it comes down to the girls' performance tonight aas with each night, they are more exciting and again out-sang the boys 10-1. I think it is because more of them have that 'wow' or 'it' factor than the boys as well as being better at song choices.moreless

Now as far as the girls within the girls.... the sub-sets are Sabrina, Haley, Antonella, and Gina simply because Melinda, Lakiesha, and Stephanie are just a cut above the rest. It is such a shame too because in their genre, those girls could be top of the pick. They can't sing any better, louder, or more on key than they are doing now...because Melinda and Lakeisha will just step it up too more and they are just fighting a losing battle.Aside from having two winners in the girls, I really wish there could be a male and female winner which both could prepresent true American Idols from both sexes.moreless
  • The first episode I've watched this season. Who knows, I MIGHT keep watching.

    9.0
    "Superb"
Starting out the night was Gina. However, I tuned in late and did not catch her performance. At the end with performance recap I saw enough to think it was great. I hope to see her next week.

Next was Alaina. She sounded terrible. Absolutely terrible.
    She better go home.

I don't remember the exact order to tell the truth, so I'll go in whatever order I want.

Lakisha did very well. It was one of my favorites, if not THE favorite. Jordin did very well. I was impressed.

Stephanie (the one that sounds like Beyonce, I think her name is Stephanie) sounded nice also.

I loved Leslies performance. It was original and just plain awesome.. one of my favorites.

Melinda or whoever didnt do too badly. The judges loved it, but it wasn't my pick for best of the night. She has a good voice, I just wasnt very interested in the song.

Haley did pretty good. It was the most lively performance that I did see. That impressed me, but I think it could've been better.

Sabrina was okay. I just don't think I like her that much.

Antonella did... well alright I guess...

    My Favorites were:

    Lakisha

    Leslie

    Jordin

    My Least Favorites:

Alaina (i think she is leaving)

Antonella (i think she should leave)

    Sabrinamoreless
  • Worse than last week

    "Great"
Overall, I think the girls got nervous due to the great performances by the guys a day earlier, so this week wasn't as strong.

Gina - Didn't like her red satin dress, besides that I think the performance was very good, with strong vocals. Too bad she went first, she might be forgotten because of the great performances that followed (Lakisa, Melinda etc.)

Alaina - Even a Dixie Chicks song was too big for her, can she only sing Britney? I think she was very pitchy trough out the song. I'm glad she's gone.

Lakisha - agree with Simon, didn't like her outfit. I don't think the song shows her amazing vocals. Even with this performance she is still the best vocalist in the competition. Funny that she and Melinda are nervous infront of the Judges, given the fact they are much better than everyone else.

Melinda - Did a very nice and different version of "my funny Valentine". I love her tone and personality. Can't believe she wasted so much time being a backup singer to people who are probably not as good as she is. I love the way she was surprised each time she was given a compliment. Antonella makes me wish there was an option to vote against someone. I can't believe she dared to attempt a Celine song. The closer she got to Celine was when she bought her CD. The fact that she stayed even after this show is very surprising and disappointing.

Jordin - pretty good performance of a very difficult song ("reflection" for the Mulan OST). I think the high notes were off sometimes. In a couple of years she'll be an amazing singer.

Stephanie - the only girl whose doing contemporary songs, so thank you from people my age. The only problem was that she reminded me too much of Beyonce, but the fact that she can sound like her, also says much about her. She looked like a pro and the dress was nice too.

Leslie - GLAD shes gone, boring performance. I think it's almost rude to attempt a Nina Simone song. She was better than last week, but horrible nevertheless.

Haley - I don't understand why those pretty descent singers keep doing songs of legends like Whitney, it only makes them look bad. Haley, do a Jessica Simpson song next week, it'll do you justice.

Sabrina - boring performance, I think last week she did much better. Compared to others, she's still a very good singer.moreless
  • The top ten females were not as good as they were last week.

    "Good"
I did not think that the top ten females performed as well as they did last week on "American Idol." There were really only a few standout performances--Lakeesha and Melinda. Other than that, the rest of the crew was decent. However, there were a few terrible performances by Antonella and Alaina. My guess is that Antonella had other things on her mind besides singing. Those two clearly deserve to go home. I want to see someone talented win this year and since those two are not talented, they may as well go home now before we have to officially call them "finalists."

However, I fear that the folks at votefortheworst.com are going to keep these girls around for a while.moreless
  • The girls have done it again!

    9.8
    "Superb"
Wow, wow! What an awesome show. I thought the boys were good but the girls were so much better (again). The 4 divas (Lakisha, Melinda, Stephanie & Sabrina) were fantastic!

So, without further ado, my top 3 performance in order of preference:-
    1) Melinda Doolittle - I LOVE her! She gave me goosebumps! Absolutely love the song choice and her voice was fantastic. I also love her humble attitude and she has been my favourite since the auditions.

    2) Lakisha Jones - WOW! Another performance that gave me goosebumps. I thought she sang much better this week (last week I thought she was a tad bit 'screaming') and I agree with Simon that her outfit was a bit distracting. That aside, another fantastic performance.

    3) Jordin Sparks - This 17 yr old can REALLY sing. She sounds like a pro and I liked how she showed vulnerability when she sang. 2 thumbs up!

Who I thought should go tomorrow?
    1) Antonella Barba - she should have been gone last week. This week, Celine??? What was she thinking?? You need a big voice to tackle a Celine song and she sure does not have it. Bye Antonella.

    2) Alaina Alexander - another one who I thought should have been booted last week. Singing a Dixie Chicks song which is meant for a group is a really wrong choice. Such a forgettable performance. Bye Alaina. Well, results are tomorrow .. so who's going? We'll check it out!moreless

    • Simon (to Haley): It was a little manic, verging on insane at one point.

    • Simon (to Melinda): What I like about you -- because we've had some precocious little monsters on this show, with very little talent and enormous egos -- you have this fantastic talent, great voice, and you don't know how good you are.

    • Simon (to Leslie): That bit at the end sounded like Paula talking. That's what you reminded me of, Paula judging this show. Blah blah blah blah...

    • Simon (to Alaina): It was like Randy taking part in a 100-meter sprint.

    • Simon (to Leslie): There are four raspberry ripples tonight, and that was vanilla.

    • Simon (to the nervous LaKisha): I think at this stage you can afford to believe that you're going to be a big star, and you've got to start acting like a big star now.

    • Simon: I thought you were worse then last week. Antonella: Simon was wrong about Jennifer Hudson, so hopefully... Simon: Let's be absolutely clear okay. We put Jennifer Hudson in American Idol. The American audience voted her out.
