On March 10, 2009, the American Idol Top 13 sang on Michael Jackson Week to try to stay alive and to make it through to the next round. There were the voting numbers that you had to call to keep them up; but it didn't help save Jasmine Murray (strange how Simon Cowell didn't get a "boo" from the crowds about Jasmine! LOL) or Jorge Nunez, who were eliminated the next day (March 11), the same day that the Judges' Save was first introduced by Ryan Seacrest, and that Kanye West performed "Heartless" and Season 1 alum Kelly Clarkson sang "My Life Would [Stink] Without You" (had to put the word "stink" in place of the other s-word). The whole thing was going well, with Kris Allen being the winner on May 20. Then one month later, on June 25, Michael Jackson suddenly departed this life from cardiac arrest at such a tender age of 50. I wondered if Fox would show this episode again. And it did, in honor of the man whom people called "Wacko Jacko"! I saw the whole thing again, but without the 1-866 numbers or the i-Tunes download ad. It kind of feels like, with or without them, the Top 13 are singing the praises of our fallen pop star. And I think the numbers might have been replaced with how the Top 13 are faring now, starting with:

Lil Rounds (Eliminated 4/22/09): "The Way You Make Me Feel"
Scott MacIntyre (Eliminated 4/8/09): "Keep the Faith"
Danny Gokey (Eliminated 5/13/09): "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)"
Michael Sarver (Eliminated 3/25/09): "You Are Not Alone"
Jasmine Murray (Eliminated 3/11/09): "I'll Be There"
Kris Allen (Winner 5/20/09): "Remember the Time"
Allison Iraheta (Eliminated 5/6/09): "Give In to Me"
Anoop Desai (Eliminated 4/22/09): "Beat It"
Jorge Nunez (Eliminated 3/11/09): "Never Can Say Goodbye"
Megan Joy (Eliminated 4/1/09): "Rockin' Robin"
Adam Lambert (Runner-Up 5/20/09): "Black or White"
Matt Giraud (Saved 4/15/09; Eliminated 4/29/09): "Human Nature"
Alexis Grace (Eliminated 3/18/09): "Dirty Diana"

    In Memoriam, Michael Jackson (Aug. 29, 1958 - Jun. 25, 2009).

I give this an 8 out of 10. Well done, Michael Jackson. Even in death, you will never be forgotten. ;)moreless
