Aired Sunday 8:00 PM May 05, 2009 on ABC

  • Trivia

    • Before the show started there was an incident with the stage. One of the giant American Idol signs fell over, and there was a lot of shattered glass. The contestants didn't get a full dress rehersal because of this.

    • This episode introduces a new aspect of the show, the Duet. There are no numbers on the screen, and are not shown in the recap, however the judges do critique them, and would obviously impact the voting. Also, there is no video clip shown before them. Ryan simply announces them and the song starts.
