Yes Yes I know, the producers push people in the finaleshow and swing the US people votes in a certain direction, but isn't that how it's always been? America does not vote for the Best Singer, they vote for the most Likeable Singer with a decent voice. Sometimes America gets it right for a while and good singers are placed in the finale but usually it's the people who are likeable, easy on the eyes/decent looking, have a good sobstory therefore deserving a chance and last and certainly least a good voice.(In that order) If someone comes along with all these qualities, then hey! Good stuff, if not, people will find someone who fits these selectioncriteria best. Why am I saying this? Not to put other reviews down but this is how the game is played and most contestants know this coming in.Therefore the top 3 is not surprising at all. Michael got through because he looks like he's a great guy, Danny has the best sobstory and Alexis is a good singer. I feel for Ricky because he did a great job but even I was hoping Danny got through. It's not ideal but it's marketing. And no one is safe from marketing ;)
This is probably the most stupidest season ever, lots of things went wrong, first of all: how on earth did Michael S. made it to top 12 wherein he sucked in performance night? Who voted for that loser? And that lame Simon giving Michael 'the sorry look by saying, he needs to advance since he needs a break from his work' is idiotic, and some of the best singers such as Ricky who sounded amazing on that night got eliminated and Simon's critique on him was laughable saying that he is ' shy ' and has 'no charisma', oh yeah, what about David Archuleta last season?, eh? he never said anything on him w/c he was a lot worse, I think this show has been fixed since no one (especially the judges) were shocked of the elimination of Ricky and Anoop (who was also good). And what's up with that Danny's dead wife, do we need to see it in every episode a picture of his dead wife? we get it, he is dead, so what? Seems like the producers want to get the sympathy votes for Danny too. Alexis was great though along with Ricky. Anoop was good. Danny is overrated. Michael is garbage. 1 = Abysmal. Keep it up and this show is gonna end sooner than expected
OK...so the performances last night were pretty horrible. But THANK GOD we have TV producers who can push the storyline on a "reality" show in their desired direction. I am getting flashbacks to season 1. If you have been watching the entire season so far, my theory of producer-centric results definitely seem plausible. By that, I mean that the show has focused soooo much time and energy on a few people with interesting stories that "EVEN" when they get beaten by a better singer, they still move onto the next round. Case in point, the second person to sing yesterday. Despite Ricky being praised up and down by all of the judges...even Simon complimented his singing except for the singer being shy...this singer did not make it through. His voice was amazing, so what went wrong???? Again, maybe it was the fact that the producers have focused sooooo much on certain singers' story lines that the people voted for them based on their stories...not on their singing. This swings both ways, however. Tatiana...the crazy chica from Puerto Rico...if you close your eyes and listen to her sing, she has one of the most controlled, strong, and naturally beautiful voices of all the contestants this year. Yet, because the producers focused on her craziness (laughter, drama queen, self-assurance), the voters ended up hating her regardless of her talent. It is one thing to be crazy AND not be able to sing, but it is another to have the talent, but get thrown under the bus by producers.
Do you think I am kidding about the producers pushing certain contestants? How about this for an example....the people who are through to the next round are 1) Oil Rig guy; 2)Dead wife guy; and 3) dirty baby mama. Who knows what their actual names are...but we sure as hell know their storylines. If the finalists were not producer-influenced, then winners tonight should have been known as 1) Ricky; 2) Tatiana; and 3) Alexis. But again, thanks to the producers...those are not the names of the winners. Instead we have 1) Oil rig guy (sometimes called Michael); 2) Dead wife guy (known to close friends as Danny; and 3) Dirty baby mama (a hot chick that her out of wedlock child will someday call Alexis).
