  • Everyone stepped their game up, great show overall.

    9.6
    "Superb"
Much much better than any previous week.

Haley - Looked nice, I don't get what the girls have with the steps the last two shows.Good song choice, IMHO she ran around too much. She's not my favorite, but not a bad performance from her.

Chris R - I'm surprised he was in the 9th/10th spot, I'm glad he slowed it down this week. The performance was boring at times and his voice sounded naisly, but a very good performance overall. The thing is, that he did a slow song to show he's got a good voice, and he didn't prove it this time.

Stephanie - Good song choice, the performance was too slow for my taste. She was pitchy at some spots, but the performance was still one of the best tonight. I'm so angry she left. Blake - Another great song choice, showed the nice range and tone to his voice. He looked very comfortable on stage. After bad song choices in the last two weeks, BLAKE IS BACK!

LaKisha - The performance was a bit old-fashioned. Still, she let her great vocals show. This theme was bound to be problematic for her, and she made the best of it, I think.

Phil - He ran around too much on the stage, but a good performance and vocals from him. I think his best overall.

Jordin - Big song, and she didn't disappoint. She's a much better singer than Lulu, that's for sure. Great control of her vocals, she looked good, amazing performance from her.

Sanjaya - What was he doing in the intro? Waving his fingers and sticking his tongue out? He sounded sick in the rehearsals and the performance. His moves didn't look as awkward as previous shoes, his best performance so far. Still, he deserves to leave.

Gina - Good song choice, unfortunately the performance didn't do the song justice. It was too pitchy and chaotic. She's still one of my favorites. I'm so happy she stayed. I was so sorry for her after Simon finished his critic, she was almost crying.

Chris S - The song really showed his nice voice, he screamed the chorus, but still a very very good performance from him.

Melinda - Another amazing performance, great vocals. Best performance of the night.moreless
  • What’s wrong with the judges tonight?

What's wrong with the judges tonight?

Especially Randy who led the group raving about Haley and Chris and giving demeaning marks to Stephanie! Stephanie was the best so far! Her voice was so clear, tonal, and enjoyable. Did you notice people booing Simon when he discredited her? And what tone-deaf judge said she was pitchy? Don't you believe it, Stephanie! You were right on!

About Haleydressed a little too cheap for my taste which distracted from paying attention to her performance (maybe that's a good thing) which dropped major points this week.

Chris Richardsonmixed review. It sounded better when they did the short recap at the end than when I heard the song in total. I don't find his voice consistently appealing. Even Peter Noon gave some disparaging remarks and Simon was the only one who noted Chris gets nasal.

Blake also sounded better on the short recap than listening to the total song. Second to Chris in ho-hum.

LaKisha Poor song choice. A bad James Bond song. I can understand the producers of the film using that song because they had to come up with SOMETHING to release the film. But to choose that song to compete? There's no excuse for that kind of sloppiness. Even sung well, a boring song does nothing for a performer. Sorry, LaKisha. For the first time your top-notch streak has been broken.

Phil Stacy - Gives a frenzied performance in hopes of distracting from a lack of a voice. Jordin A good song choice, but somehow didn't come through with the tender feeling I was expecting. It came on too strong, too shouted. I was disappointed. But the good news is it beat LaKisha.

Sanjaya Although a good song, it's a poor choice for Sanjaya. It wasn't in his key and he sung it really flat. On top of that he's trying to distract from his vocals by waving his rear in the audience's face. He's outdone himself on awful.

Gina Some interesting creativity, but in general kind of boring. Chris Excellent song choice for his rich voice and I love those highs! What a distinctive voice. Chris is back on top!

Melinda Bad song choice never heard of it boring rendition. Also out of the sisterhood of LaKisha, Melinda and Stephanie, I'm going on record to say Melinda is the lesser of the three because she doesn't have range. She's a one-note wonder like Liza Minnelli sings the same note in various degrees of loudness. I don't know what the judges are raving about.

    From bad to best:

Sanjaya, Phil, Haley, Chris R., Blake, Melinda, Gina, Lakisha, Jordin, Chris S., Stephanie

It's good seeing the very attractive Peter Noon and Lulu again! I'm a big Herman's Hermits fan. To sir with love!moreless
  • Top 11..... GREAT JOB!

    "Great"
Top 11 performances........ Tonight was British Invasion night. I was like what the heck a kind of theme is a British Invasion? But it turned out to be a great theme!

Haley: She was really good. Best performance she has ever done. I really like her singing up tempo songs much better then the original ballets.

Chris: It was kind of boring for me. Although he didn't sound nervous tonight, but I still really didn't think it was the best. Its probably because I didn't like the song he sang, but I know a lot of other people did because he does have a great voice.

Stephanie: She picked a great song! I thought she was going to sing it great! But then when she started singing the song, it felt like it wasen't her. I mean she picked the right song, but just didn't sing it right. So she was kind of in the middle for me. But we all know she is not going home tomorrow night, but she might be in the bottom three.

Blake: I love how this guy makes the songs his own, and does a great job of it, and not only that but sings it great too. I thought he did a great job as usually!

Lakisha: Looked absoloutly beautiful tonight! She sang the song great, and I enjoyed it. She is definatly some performer.

Phill: The only thing I can say about this guy is that he has a very powerful voice. Which he could do wonders with. And he usually does, but not this week. Sorry, I don't think the song fitted him appropriately. But like I said he could basically sing anything great, but just has to pick the right song to make it excellent because he's capitable of doing that.

Jordin: Wonderful, Excellent! Everything you can say that is positive, she did and just in this one performance. Sanjaya: Oh my god, please anyone tell me if you thought that little girl was crying because Sanjaya was scaring her. I really did think that. But it turned out she really does like him. So we now know one fan we could kill for keeping Sanjaya in this competition for this long. Just kidding. But seriously though, Sanjaya needs to go home tomorrow!!!

Gina: The song fitted her perfectly, but she needs to really focus on singing the song she picks a lot better, then just performing it great. But all and all she did good. But I do think she might be in the bottom three tomorrow night, but shes so not going home.

Chris.S: It was good. If I was a fan of Chris Sligh, I would have loved it. But I'm just not a fan of his, so I can't say he was excellent. But whoever his fans are I know he pleased them, because he really did do a great job tonight!

Melinda: So adorible. She just dosen't sing the song great, but she does it in a cute way. Way to go Melinda! So the bottom three I think will be tomorrow night, are....

    1)Gina
    2)Stephanie
    3)Sanjaya!moreless
  • Melinda and Jordin were the bomb!!

Top 11's theme was hit songs from the 1960s British pop invasion. Here are the contestants that sang tonight:

Starting the show was Haley singing Tell Him. Even though her performance wasn't good for me, it was still her best performance. She should be in the bottom 2. 4.5/10

Next up was Chris R singing Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying. He was amazing and blew me away. 9/10

After Chris was Stephanie. She sang You Don't Have to Say You Love Me. Her performance was not the best. I've seen better from her. 7/10

Blake was up next singing Time of the Season. He was awesome and he made the song his own. 9/10

LaKisha sang Diamonds are Forever after Blake. It wasn't her best, but she was still good. 8.5/10

Phil was up next after LaKisha singing Tobacco Road. He was really good and should definately be back next week. 8.2/10

Jordin blew me away singing I Who Have Nothing after Phil. She has a stunning voice for a 17 year old. 9.8/10

Sanjaya was next singing You Really Got Me. He improved a lot since last week, but he was still pretty bad.He should be eliminated. 4/10

After Sanjaya was Gina. She sang Paint it Black. Good song choice, but poorly done. She should be in the bottom 3. 6.3/10

Chris S was the last boy to perform. He sang She's Not There. He was very good. A lot better than last week. 7.7/10

Closing the show was phoenominal Melinda. Wow she was superb. She was the best! 100000/10!!

Overall, an amazing night and one of the best.

    Bottom 3:
    3. Gina
    2. Haley 1. Sanjaya (going home)moreless
  • Fox's Desperate Attempt To Show People Do Like Sanjaya Episode Solid Episode. Absolutely solid.

    9.5
    "Superb"
Let's review this episode performance by performance.

Haley Scarnato's performance was such a tease. I actually enjoyed it a lot. I was waiting for so long for Haley to perform well on stage. Last week she almost made it but she forgot the lyrics. This week, it wasn't wow but it was pretty decent. And she was smart enough to play to her strengths. Chris Richardson's performance was just okay. Not necessarily finger licking good. Just okay. He should be safe though. Stephanie should realize by now that when people say they think of Beyonce everytime she sings, it is not necessarily a good thing. She does sound a bit too similar to beyonce. The difference though is that beyonce has the personality to pull it off as well. Stephanie has to work on her style and personality or else before she finally reaches the beyonce level, she might be out of the competition already.

Blake's performance to me wasn't all that great. At least not as great as what the judges try to make it sound like. Although, it was much much more better than last week. I am still waiting for the week when he finally sits down and just sing. Even all great cds has that song in the cd where the artist doesnt try too hard to make it their style. Just that plain beautiful song. I want to see if he can pull it off. Lakisha. Lakisha. Lakisha. What went wrong? With that voice, I was expecting much much more. But unfortunately today she was very dissapointing. And i was very very dissapointed. Even with all that bling bling, it still fell short as compared to last week's performance.

Phil Stacey. It was like a Chris Daughtry's fan trying to perform one of his songs. It was good but not good enough. Vocal was nice but during that perfomance, all that i could think about was 'man, i wish chris (the other chris, chris daughtry) was here' Jordin Sparks score the homerun tonight. I know it was amazing the moment I felt the pain in my heart. It was like how Simon described it. I wanted to jump off the bridge too. It was sang so beautifully. Last week, I wasnt sure if she really deserve the finale comment but this week, I can say for sure this girl (if she continues to improve and choose her songs properly) deserves to be in the finale.

Sanjaya. Yes, Fox. We NOW know there are actually people who loves Sanjaya. We NOW know there is even a little girl with braces that cries when Sanjaya sings. Still, that was not at all good. It was just an amateur performance. Yeah, he is definitely becoming better. But is there a possibility that he can perform a song that is worth watching over youtube over and over again? Is there a possibilty that he can perform a song that we would recommend to our friends? Unfortunately, I think we all know the answer to that question.

Gina Glocksen. It was her style. That performanec has gina written all over it. I liked it. Vocals, on the other hand, I agree with Simon. She must be more careful in future.

Chris Sligh. The main problem I am having with this guy is that he is just not that good. He has good vocals but he does not have any wow factor it. I am waiting to see an amazing performance from him yet. Hopefully he can step it up a lot more. I on the other hand, don't see him having a chart topping single any time soon. To come to think of it, maybe never. Melinda DooLittle. Another artist that made the little girl cry. WELL at least now the little girls is crying for a good reason. Not the best performance of the night, but still very good. I am just hoping to see another 'funny valentine' performance. Something that is not base solely on vocals only, but the performance side as well. Something like last week's performance. I think Jordin Sparks win the best performance of the night. Who do I think will be in the bottom three? Sanjaya (i am having my fingers crossed. hopefully this week he really goes home), Gina (can she connect with enough audience), Stephanie ( mediocre performance. Way too mediocre)

This week's episode is definitely way better than last week.moreless

    • At the beginning of the British Invasion show, the director and cameramen spotted a little girl's face flowing (overflowing) with tears as she watched the performances of the top 11. Ryan approached her wondering whether they were tears of joy or the other way around. The girl confirmed the former. She was mostly on screen when Sanjaya was on stage. She continuously cried, literally. She said she's a big fan of Sanjaya and she actually received a huge hug from him. At the end of the program, when everyone was at the center bidding a temporary goodbye with hoping-to-see-you-later smile, the little girl was invited to go up and get close to the soon-to-be stars.

    • After Chris Sligh finished listening to the judges and talking to Ryan Seacrest, he says "Hi, Dave." This is a reference to the man behind Votefortheworst.com, an anti-American Idol website that encourages its readers to vote for the worst performer. Many think this website is contributing to Sanjaya Malakar's success up to this point. The reaction of the judges during the show indicate they weren't happy with Chris giving a shout-out to this website.
