  • Better than last week

Lenon/McCartney again. Hopefully better than last week. And hope not to see Syesha in the bottom 3 again.

Amanda Overmyer "Back In The U.S.S.R." Great song choice. Had an Amanda spin. Once again, great job Amanda. 8.5/10

Kristy Lee Cook "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" Still not good. Better than last week, but not good. Once again, low grade. 6.8/10

David Archuleta "The Long And Winding Road" I loved it!!!! Perfect song for him. Not a note out of tune. I say perfect. 10/10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Michael Johns "A Day In The Life" Michael, Michael! I'm a big fan of him, but, that was not good. The song was too long to put into 1'30". I wasn't a big fan this week. 7.8/10.

Brooke White "Here Comes The Sun" I hated it. I liked the dress thought. Wrong sun. Vocals not that good. From flawless last week to ugh. 7.5/10. Sorry.

David Cook "Day Tripper" Finally!!!! Another good one! The David's are doing great. I loved it. 2nd best of the night so far. 9.6/10

Carly Smithson "Blackbird" I didn't like it. I'm a big fan of her, but not today. I didn't think it was good enough for this point of the competition. But, it wasn't horrible. 8.0/10

Jason Castro "Michelle" I thought it was o.k. I didn't like the French or whatever in it. Not my favorite from him, but still going on tour. 8.9/10

Syesha Mercado "Yesterday" Loved it!!!!!!!!!! Perfect! It was beautiful. I thought I would cry. Best of the night!!!!!!!!!!!!! 10/10!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chikeze "I've Just Seen A Face" Oh no! My favorite Beatles song ruined. I hated it. It couldn't have been worse. It was just horrible. 5.3/10

Ramiele Malubay "I Should Have Known Better" Ramiele, where have you been this top 12? I love you, but another bad performance. I was looking forward to you. Why???? 7.4/10.

Bottom 3: Kristy Lee Cook, Chikeze, and Ramiele Malubay

Bottom 2: Kristy Lee Cook and Chikeze

  • wow...that was bad...

I just don't understand why they would want to do the same theme for two weeks? I just think they should end it on a good note and move on. The night was terrible. No one did well, except that stupid kid (I really don't like him...David Archuleta). I was disappointed in Cook, but I still think he did relatively well. Most everyone did bad. My favorites all avoided going home, thank goodness. I just hope the theme next week is good and that the singers redeem themselves. I guess the only good thing about this episode was that I could hear Simon bash everyone. He always right! Overall, pretty boring, terrible episode.moreless
  • David Archuletta- wow.

David was really good in his performance. I mean really good. The week before, he wasn't at his best, and well first of all, he forgot the words, secondly I could barely hear his voive over the music, and thirdly- it just wasn't the greatest performance. I just have to say- tonight he got back on top, with one (if not best) of the best performances he has ever done on American Idol.

The other singers were good, too. I liked Jason, he is really good, and I hope he gets really high up in the competition, if you ask me!

    8.9 out of 10.moreless
  • Ummm it was a pretty good night...

Okay, so this is the 2nd week in a row of Beatles songs. I gave this an 7.9 because there were some good and not so good performances...

Amanda went first, and she wasn't good in my opinion. Her performances are always predictable and she doesn't have a very good voice. I'll give her a 3/10.

Kristy Lee Cook was in the bottom 2 last week, and everyone thought she was going to go. She didn't. This week wasn't really that good for me for her. I actually liked her better last week. 5/10

David Archuleta was next and he made a boring song exciting. His vocals were awesome and in my top 3 performances of the night. 9/10

Michael Johns sang a song that is originally really long and made it short. His performance overall was pretty good. I'll give him maybe a 7 and a half/10

Brooke White sang a song called Here Comes the Sun. I am familiar with the song and she dressed up in a yellow dress with the background screen as a sun. A bit above average performance. 6 and a half/10

David Cook sang Day Tripper. I like his voice, but this week wasn't as good as last week. Still pretty good though. 7/10

Carly Smithson sang Blackbird. I was surprised she was in the bottom 3. I really liked it. 8/10

Jason Castro sang Michelle and it was alright. I like him but not really two nights ago... 6/10

Syesha was next with my favorite performance of the night. She sang Yesterday. Definitely my favorite from her. 10/10

Chikezie this week wasn't as good as last week. He played the harmonica during the song too. 7/10

Ramiele closed the show with a great performance. Still, I think she can do better. 8 and a half/10

I'm really glad Amanda was voted off. But my bottom 3 instead of Carly would've been Jason. Kristy should go next week.moreless
  • I think that Randy was right in one of his comments last night...

Randy made the comment that the second Beatles Lennon/McCarntey night was sort of boring because it had been done before. And I have to agree with him. Being that it was so similar to the previous episode, there wasn't all that much new or interesting about it.

There were some good performances and some bad performances, but none of the performances really stuck with me. They were all pretty blan, especially compared to the previous week with some memorably good performances, notably David Cook and Brooke White's performances. Everything was rehashed and redone this week.

Overall there were a few worse that I heard then the others, but it was mainly a lot of medicore performances.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (2)

  • QUOTES (5)

    • Simon: (on Michael's performance) The long and short of it was it was a mess. It's a long and complicated song, and it doesn't work in a minute and a half.

    • Simon: (on Jason's performance) Where you're lucky is that this is a TV show and not a radio show, because your face saved that song. You're very charming and you're not obnoxious, and it's your very goofiness that made it work.

    • Simon: (on Amanda's performance) It was predictable and a bit of a mess in part. It's the same thing week after week after week.

    • Simon: (on Chikezie's performance) It started off OK, and then you played the harmonica, which was literally atrocious, and then it turns into Achy Breaky Heart at the end.

    • Simon: ( to Kristy Lee Cook) It's like musical wallpaper... in so much as you notice it but you can't remember it.
