    • TRIVIA (6)

      • Due to Steven's unpredictable use of language, Ryan gave him a cut out of the American Idol logo on a stick to use when he swears. He actually used it a couple of times.

      • Actors Martha Plimpton and Garret Dillahunt, from the show Raising Hope were in the audience. Their showed aired right after this episode.

      • Ryan announced that people are now allowed to vote online as well as by calling or texting. How it works is the person has to log into the website and then use their Facebook account. Each account gets 50 votes per night.

      • For the first time the Semis are done on the same stage as the Finals. The stage has again been overhauled.

      • Ryan introduced the judges before the opening theme song for the first time ever.

      • This is a special 1 hour & 30 min episode. Also Glee is pre-empted tonight.

    • QUOTES (0)

    • NOTES (4)

      • Songs sung tonight:
Clint Jun Gamboa-"Superstition" by Stevie Wonder
Jovany Barreto-"I'll Be" by Edwin McCain
        Jordan Dorsey-"OMG" by Usher
Tim Halperin-"Streetcorner Symphony" by Rob Thomas
Brett Loewenstern-"Light My Fire" by The Doors
James Durbin-"You've Got Another Thing Comin'" by Judas Priest
        Robbie Rosen-"Angel" by Sarah McLachlan
Scotty McCreery-"Letters From Home" by John Michael Montgomery
Stefano Langone-"Just The Way You Are" by Bruno Mars
Paul McDonald-"Maggie May" by Rod Stewart
Jacob Lusk-"A House is Not a Home" by Brook Benton
Casey Abrams-"I Put a Spell on You" by Screamin' Jay Hawkins

      • Ray Chew is the new musical director/band leader. Ricky Minor left to replace Kevin Eubanks on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.

      • The Semi-Finals are a bit different this year. They have all the boys perform one night and all the girls another, like usual. But instead of two boys and two girls going home each week, there is only one week of Semis and the Top 5 boys and Top 5 girls will be put through into the Top 10, and then there will be a Wild Card week. The Wild Card was last used in Season 8. There was no specifics on how the Wild Card would work, (i.e. how many sing again and how many get voted through etc.)

      • Since Simon has left, Randy takes over the last spot for critiques. He has always been in the first seat for the live shows. That spot is now Steven's, and Jennifer sits where Paula use to.
