Each Wild Card sang the same song they did in the Individual Performance Round during Hollywood Week. Songs sung tonight were:
C.J. Harris-"Bring It Home To Me" by Sam Cooke
Jena Irene-"Unbreakable Me" (Original)
Spencer Lloyd-"Ordinary Girl" (Original)
Bria Anai-"It's A Man's Man's Man's World" by James Brown
Kristen O'Conner-"Unconditionally" by Katy Perry
*This is the first time ever that Originals have been sung past the Hollywood Rounds.
This is the fifth time in the series that there is an odd amount of girls and boys. This is the third time there are more girls with the other two being Seasons 3 and 10. There are 7 Girls and 6 Boys.
Similar to last year instead of having just two or three contestants come up at a time and being told who is safe and who is not, like in years past, Ryan just announced one by one who was in the Top 13. The difference is that everyone was in The Lounge, as suppose to all the boys in one room and all the girls in another, and there were no winning songs. Ryan did however go back and forth between a guy and a girl. The 10 people put through based on America's votes were: Malaya Watson, Ben Briley, Emily Piriz, Alex Preston, Jessica Meuse, Dexter Roberts, Caleb Johnson, Majesty Rose, M.K. Nobilette and Sam Woolf. Next the Judges picked five of the remaining ten contestants to sing for three Wild Card spots, and those were: C.J. Harris, Jena Irene, Spencer Lloyd, Bria Anai and Kristen O'Conner, which automatically eliminated Briana Oakley, Emmanuel Zidor, George Lovett, Malcolm Allen and Marrialle Sellars. The Judges then chose the three that made it through which were Jena Irene, Kristen O'Conner and C.J. Harris, automatically eliminating Bria Anai and Spencer Lloyd.
