  • 2 bad performance and 6 good/great ones.

    "Great"
Ok, so when I found out that this was Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, I was excited and anxious to see how they would do.

David Cook sang first and I like him... and the performance was good, not great. But his second song wasn't good... it was great. Not amazing though. 2 good performances.

Syesha was next. She sang Proud Mary by Tina Turner. It was a fun and entertaining performance with good vocals too. But then came her next song. She wowed me a lot. The vocals were very powerful and amazing, and Randy was too harsh on her. Definitely a "superstar" performance. She nailed it. 2 great performances.

Next was Jason.. not much to say but one word... BAD!!!!!! Both of his performances. 0 for 2.

Finally, with one of my favorite performances of the whole night, David A sang Stand by Me. Amazing, my fave from him and I like how he put in a Sean Kingston "beautiful girls" part near the end... awesome performance. So was his last one. I kinda felt at the end of Elvis' song, it was a bit off but whatever.

In order of the best to worst:

    1. David A (or Syesha)
    2. Syesha (or David A)
    3. Cook

Rock week! Yay, I love rock, well, most rock. I only like Cook at this point, but I have to give props to David A and Seyesha; they did well. I thought all three of them deserve making it to the final three. Now...Jason, on the other hand, was terrible. He's been terrible for weeks and people keep voting for him just because he's adorable! Hey, I'm a girl, and I say he's ADORABLE, but that's NO reason to vote for him. If you truley like him, vote, but seriously, the others have talent and can make a good-sounding CD. This isn't a popularity contest...Anyways, the episode was pretty good, I just didn't like Jason.moreless
  • In this episode, Jason Castro, David Archulata, David Cook and Syesha Mercado perfomed two songs live.

    "Poor"
    OMG, Jason.

    Jason Castro was absolutely terrible!!

His first song's arrangement was terrible, his singing in that song was terrible and I agree 100% with Simon when he said "That was like a first-round audition monstrosity."

And his second song was just as bad. I hope so badly that what Simon predicted after the second song was right, and Jason will have to go pack his bags. If he stays on the elimination show, it is only because of his dreads or that America wants an all male top 3. It will have absolutely NOTHING to do with talent.

However, I must say that the other three contestants were very fun to watch. David Cook was pretty good, but it's ironic how when it's Rock and Roll week, which is Cook's specialty, he does worse than all the other weeks. I blame it on his song choice....

I'm not a huge fan of David A, however I will say that he was better than Cook (and that's saying something, cause I'm a HUUUUGE Cook fan).

And Syesha. What can I say? SHE WAS FRICKIN' AMAZING THIS WEEK! So, there you have it. Jason better get out tonight because if he doesn't, Syesha will, and she doesn't deserve that at all.moreless
  • Three of four idols throw down this week!!!

    9.0
    "Superb"
It was a predictable, but wonderful night last night. Syesha Mercado does an excellent job with "Proud Mary" and "A Change is Gonna Come", despite being criticized by Simon and Randy (respectively, although I really disagreed with Randy's critique on Sam Cooke's song). She really did everything she could with both songs and made them into her own.

David Cook had his ups and downs with both of his songs. His first song, "Hungry Like the Wolf" by Duran Duran, was awful. He oversang the song to a point where he was shouting and drowned out the supporting background music. I didn't really like that. I thought he was totally bored with it as well. Then he sang "Baba O'Riley" and redeemed himself again. I like David Cook, I really do. However, the competition is getting even more fierce by the minute, so David C will have to step up his multiple performances, particularly if he makes it to next week. He'll have three songs to sing, so he can't have ups and downs anymore.

Jason Castro hasn't really fared well for a long time. I was so disappointed that Brooke didn't make it to next week, although my opinion of Jason isn't affected by Brooke's departure. Objectively speaking, Jason started shouting to try to make "I Shot the Sheriff" seem more poignant. He couldn't really find a connection between himself and the song. His second song was about as bad as it can get. Unless you're Sanjaya Malakar or David Archuleta, you can NEVER get away with forgetting the lyrics. He's most certainly getting voted off.

Once again, David Archuleta stole the show. His take on "Stand by Me" was pitch perfect and moving for me. "Love Me Tender" was awesome as well. I think he's really ahead of the pack at this point.moreless

    • Simon: (to David Archuletta) You could have whistled and been better than the last performer.

    • Simon: (to Jason Castro) The arrangement was atrocious, the performing and the singing was as bad as I've ever heard. This was like a first-round audition massacre. Honestly, I don't know what you're thinking.
