  • It's definetly not the guys year...

    6.0
    "Fair"
The performances overall, without even comparing to the girls were poor. Maybe it's the before-to-12-jitters...

Blake - Never heard of the song too, good thing he's performing song of little known bands to boost their sales. Another great performance, even though I didn't like the song.

Sunjaya - Didn't like the hair, the song choice and the performance itself. God knows why he didn't go home; who's voting for him?!

Sundance - I love the song (Jeremy by Pearl Jam) the performance wasn't as good as last week, but much better than almost everybody else.

Chris R. - He needed to finally do a slower song. Started off boring, but midway he really was able to show that he's got a great voice. Best performance of the night.

Jared - Not a bad performance, didn't like the facial expressions. Too bad he left, but it was about to happened in the next couple of weeks anyway.

Brandon - Kind of bland performance, nothing special about it.

Phil - Looked like a cancer patient in that hat. I love the song (I Need You by LeAnn Rimes) but Phil wasn't even close to the original. Are people still voting for him because of the "I-missed-my-daughters-birth" story? Why is he in the final 12?

Chris S. - Very good performance on a very mediocre night.moreless

    "Good"
Hmm.. Okay! The Boys Disappointed Me This Week. It's Sad, Really! The Only Performances I Liked Were Those Of Blake Lewis, Chris Richardson, And Chris Sligh. I Do Not Know What Happened To The Others! I Mean Are They Serious? Sunjaya Was the Worst Of Them All! Yes, It Was Better Than Last Week But It Still Wasn't Good Enough! I Think He's Going to Leave This Week. Sundance's Song Was Bad! He's better than that! Everyone Knows His Voice Is Amazing; I think it's Just a Bad Song Choice! Hopefully, He'll choose a Better One Next Week (If He Stays). I Don't Think Jared Sang His Song As Well That He Could Of; He Definitely Has A Good Voice, Guess I Didn't See Him Shine! Brandon Rogers Wasn't That Bad, He Could Do Much Much Much Much Better! He's Wasting His Voice and Chances on Bad Performances! The First Time I Saw Him, I Said That He's Going To Be The One That Going To Win American Idol. Unfortunately, He Proved Me Wrong. This Is The First Week That Phil Stacey Did Bad, I Think It's Because Of The Song. Hopefully, He'll Be Back Next Week (squinting) And Will Surprise Us All!moreless
  • Why can't these guys just sing WELL?

    4.7
    "Poor"
My oh my. I think that we are in for a LONG rest of the season of "American Idol." Other than Blake and the Justin Timberlake wannabe, the boys are just horrendous. I mean, I want to like Chris Sligh and Jared Cotter and Brandon Rodgers, but they just don't intrigue me. As for Sundance and Sanjaya, those guys do not deserve to be there. Sundance's awful performance of Pearl Jam probably made Eddie Vedder want to, well, do something bad. Same for John Mayer. Sanjaya's performance of Mayer's Grammy Award winning song was just brutal.

America--please do NOT vote for Sundance or Sanjaya. They are the worst of a bad group.moreless
  • It was as if something was wrong with the microphone for so many guys to sound washed out--that is until Chris Sligh came on.

    5.8
    "Mediocre"
I was sure there was a technical problem because so many guys sounded so weak. Brandon was so close to the mike, his lips seemed to curl over it at times.

Starting with Blake--his beatbop is as novel as a beatnick and will go the same way. It's a curiosity, attention-getter that erupts in various forms over the decades, but nothing I'd want to listen to over and over again. I know he's considered the most modern, but I really don't care for his style.

What's with straightening Sanjaya's hair? He's beginning to look like a girl. Guess Hollywood is glamming him up. His performance was better this week (he couldn't get much worse than last week). He's become an irritant.

Sundance did terrible. Nothing memorable about the performance, nor worth listening to to completion.

Chris Richardson really sounded odd. He's got that high voice that was floundering when it came to lows. He was almost squeaky and was horribly lacking in volume.

Jared had done the best job out of the others that came before him and it was ironic when the judges really tore into him. However, Jared had a way of making the song look hard to sing. I felt like I was there with him wondering if he was going to be able to make the next note. Performers are supposed to make it look easy, and Jared seemed to demonstrate how hard it can be to sing.

    I don't even remember Brandon's performance.

As usual with Phil's performance, I can't sit through to the end. As Simon called it, his voice is boring, and I think he has a tendency to sing loud instead of hitting actual notes.

Chris Sligh demonstrated once again he has a full-bodied voice (no pun intended). I only recall the voice timbre, not the song.

    There you have it.moreless
  • The guys were not that good this week.

    5.8
    "Mediocre"
This week the guys didn't bring it like last weeks!! It made me very sad. At least Simon liked what they were wearing. Which is one plus. I think Chris Sligh did the best last night because he sang it nicely and hit every note. Also his voice is just so amazing. Randy was right on how he got the vocal prize of the night.

I think the 2nd one would be Chris Richardson. I love country music and I saw a different side of him which was nice. Also it shows how he can sing all different types of music and how it still sound really good.

The 3rd would have to be Blake. I enjoyed the song and I like when he does some beat boxing. It is a very cool talent. I think he did better the other 2 weeks though, but it wasn't the worst thing I have ever heard in my life.

Fourth would have to be Sundance (Jason). He did a good job and is definitely able to win this if he can bring it next week. (That is if he doesn't get voted off on Thursday.) I do think that Simon was right though on how he was screaming a little bit but overall it was good.

5th would be Brandon. I think he did better last week but it was ok. I don't think that he will go really far but he will definitely make it into the top 12. The problem I have with him is that he doesn't stand out from the crowd. 6th would have to be Phil. He has a good voice but he picked the wrong song. The begining wasn't good at all but by the middle it sounded better with his very big voice. I hope he doesn't get voted off because he just picked a strange song to sing. 7th would be Jared. He has a good voice but he isn't picking memorable songs that would make people vote for him. And lastly Sanjaya. I love him! But he isn't picking the right songs!!!!AHHHH!! He did better then last week but it is still not good enough to win this competition. If he stays he needs to sit down and sing every song that he has ever heard or sang and figure out his problem. If I could talk to him and tell him the right song to sing it would be the song he sang at his tryouts. The judges loved when he sang that song at it made him stand out. I love on how he can Hula Dance though.

I do think a girl will win this year because they have more talent. We will see what they sing tonight.moreless

    • Simon (to Phil): I didn't get it. I genuinely didn't get that. I thought the hat, the big eyes, it was all just insane at the beginning.

    • Simon (to Sundance): You went from being actually very good last week to what I would call very generic bar singer.

    • Simon (to Blake): I didn't understand a word you sang. Not a word.

    • Simon (to Sanjaya): The good news is it wasn't as ghastly as last week. I'm just finding the whole hula-hooping, the whole Paula hairstyle, all a bit weird.

    • Ryan :(To the judges) So, after tonight how many guys you think should be in the finals? Randy : Keeping it real, only about 4. Paula : 4 Simon : 3 and a half.

    • Chris Sligh (after his performance): It's one of my favorite songs, and I feel like…you know it's not a well-known song, but I feel like the sentiment of we all wanna be loved is a very universal sentiment, people can identify with it, and I apologize that I didn't bring it, like I should have. (Ryan offers Chris a handshake) Chris Sligh: Now hold on, well you've got to give me a hug dog, you give everybody else a hug. What's going on?
