Even though only 100 were suppose to make it to "Hollywood Week" they let through 121

The seven audition cities for season one in order were: Los Angeles (with 31 moving on to Hollywood round), Seattle (10 people moving on), Chicago (23 people moving on),New York City (25 people moving on),Atlanta (15 people moving on), Dallas (11 people moving on) and Miami (6 people moving on).

All 3 picked Tamyra to win 1st. Their votes were split between Chris and Ariel for the 2nd and 3rd spots.

This is the very first American Idol show where the viewers decided who went on to the next round. Over 3 millions calls were received.

Blooper- When Randy is introduced, Ryan and Brian's names appear on the screen instead of Randy's.

Judges' predictions to win the show:
In first place all 3 picked Justin. In second place it was Randy picking Angela, Paula picking Alexis, and Simon picking Gil. After Justin and Kelly won the 1st and 2nd place spots respectively, all 3 judges picked Alexis to earn the last seat.

Contestant Gil Sinuet admits to Paula, on the air, that he has a crush on her and asks her out on a date. Paula states she would be honored.

Over 6.9 million phoned in to vote.

Ejay Day was called in as an alternate when semi-finalist, Delano Cagnolatti, was disqualified because of his age. He had originally told executives that he is 23 years old; when in fact he is 29. Contestants have to be between the ages of 16-24 to audition.

This result show had a lot of differences from the other two. Some of the differences were: The way they did the recap of the preovious night's performances, they did not show the judges predictions, when a contestant won they showed their "Journey to the top 10", and the lighting when making the announcement of the winners. There were some others as well

Instead of the hosts having a little speech at the beginning there was a voice over by an unknown person (mostly likely an employee of FOX). This continues for the remainder of the season.
