Starting from this week, The Fan Save is used to determine who goes home. The Bottom Two are revealed then both perform. Viewers get 5:00 to vote on Twitter (using #Save(the name of the contestant), and then the person with the lowest amount of votes is eliminated. This means the person eliminated each week, may not actually have had the lowest amount of votes the previous week.

Celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsey, Season 4 contestant Vonzell Solomon, and Season 12 Winner Candace Glover, were in the audience tonight.
This episode's Co-Mentor was Kelly Clarkson. She becomes the third American Idol contestant to be a mentor (Adam Lambert and David Cook were the other two). She is the first contestant to have her own theme week though.
This week, In House Mentor, Scott, was the one who was in the videos shown right before the performances.
Season 2 Winner Ruben Studdard came out to give Ryan the official results at the beginning of the episode.

After Joey's performance, Boy George came out on stage and talked with her.
The Group Number was "Karma Chameleon" by Culture Club. Boy George joined the Top 11 on stage part way through the song.
David Hasselhoff came out to give the official results envelope. He then performed an 80s medley with the songs: "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" by Queen, "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina and the Waves, "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley, "Do You Really Wanna Hurt Me?" by Culture Club, "Let's Dance" by David Bowie, and "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" by Joan Jett and The Blackhearts.
