8/19/03The five group members perform songs expected to be included on their album: "Reach," "Never Had a Dream Come True," "Bring It on Back," "You Are the One," "Have You Ever?" and "One Step Closer." Chauncey Matthews, via the wonders of technology, duets with American Idol winner Ruben Studdard on Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle's "A Whole New World." They appear in a strange music video that includes a clip in which Ruben's head is superimposed on Mount Rushmore. Deborah Gibson performs her 1989 #1 hit "Lost in Your Eyes." Gladys Knight sings a medley of some of her hits. The show concludes with the American Juniors singing Bette Midler's "Friends," accompanied by highlights of the season.moreless
8/12/03Morgan Burke, Katelyn Tarver, Chantel Kohl, Jordan McCoy, Danielle White and AJ Melendez perform the songs that each has recorded for the compilation album American Juniors: Kids in America. The finalists perform "Kids in America," which is also included on the album. Danielle, Chantel and AJ are revealed to be the top three vote-getters. AJ is sent back to the couches. Danielle makes it in as the fifth and final group member. She joins the group to perform the single "One Step Closer."moreless

6/10/03The auditions conclude in New York. 60 performers are sent on to the next round in Hollywood, where they learn a dance routine and perform "One Step Closer" (the show's theme song). 20 kids are then selected to appear on the series and sing in one of two semi-final rounds.
6/3/03Thousands of children audition for producers in Los Angeles, Chattanooga and Chicago in the hopes of being called to Hollywood for the next round. Much of the show focuses on the reactions of disappointed "stage parents" whose children fail to make the cut.
